When you are sitting on the sofa, it's frosty outside you've just had Sunday lunch after a hard and cold morning ride. You put the telly on and there it is, just by chance your favourite Sunday afternoon comfort film.
My top three today would be;
1. Hobson's Choice. ( John Mills in fine form. )
2. The Quiet Man. ( John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara )
3. The Millionairess. ( Sophia Loren & Peter Sellers )
Maureen O Hara what's not to like.
I have drank quite a bit of Aberlour today and I'm mostly feeling very nostalgic about when families would sit together after Sunday Lunch and watch a film on the box rather than disappear on their phones, tablets etc to check their facebook and twitter status.
The Ladykillers
Passport to Pimlico
Two Way Stretch
All superb and very Sunday afternoon.
Lawrence (sp) of Arabia, Bridge over the River Kwai or Kind Hearts and Coronets.
Any Star Wars 3-6.
Bad memory for these things but recently watched and enjoyed:
Whisky Galore
The Holiday
Stardust
Something for everyone .
The Titfield Thunderbolt.
Anything Ealing Comedy or by David Lean, Dr Zhivago or LOA etc.
School for scoundrels is my all time favorite terry Thomas and allister sims at there best
