[Closed] Berlingo screen washers lost their ooomph

Hiya,

I'm hoping one of the STW Berlingo gurus might be able to help.

On our 2005 Berlingo the front & rear windscreen washers both still work, but have lost their power, so are unable to squirt high enough up the windscreen.

I've tried poking a needle in the jets with no improvement.

Any other tips on how to fix this?

Many thanks.

Pop the pipes off the jet to see if working OK (rules out the jets). You might have a bunged up filter on the water tank.

Depending upon access, you could remove tank/pump and clean up. I've replaced a pump before on my wife's previous car, but that had packed up completely.

They can gunge up. Other option would be hot/boiling water in the tank - might shift some gunk (although won't remove it, it might break it up).

As above. Also, once done run a hosepipe through for a while to get the bits out of the reservoir.

Empty tank.

re-fill with MILD bleach/water solution.

Put hose gun into tank to agitate.

Empty via pump, rinse, empty, rinse a few times.

Check pipework is not kinked.

Blow through jets (airline if poss).

I used to have pump problems on my old 307. If its similar, they have a dual pump combined into one unit that sits in the bottom of the resevoir feeding the front and rear. I found it esier to just replace it than try and problem solve. The seals would go and the motor deteriorate.

If you do change it, ideally do it when the resevoir is low or stick a bucked under to capture all the fluid. They just twist in and out fo the resevoir from memory
