Like that series. My friends appeared on there, they said Fogle was a proper nice bloke, but with the crew a bit of a diva.

Yeah and was dead envious of her physique although disappointed we didn't see a live kill with the arrow. What an area though, it looked amazing even though it's bear and wolf territory.

Yeah, 'scary eyes' but she clearly wanted to add BF to her list.

A swift Google reveals she is author, and that both of them seem to 'return' now and again.
So they're more long distance walkers / expedition than 'gave it all up'...

Hmmmm

She lost my admiration when she started to wash her hair in p*ss.

Oh nooo, I missed the p*ss shampoo bit. The old fella with the beard seemed pretty sound, but got the impression that he was a bit scared of her - blimey, did you see her face when she was stalking with the bow and arrow. You wouldn’t want to p*ss her off eh?!

Blimey, turns out she's Dutch (they can be crazy people) and an ex pole vaulter (really crazy people).

I always wonder how much they pay these people to live with them....could set that couple up for another decade!

Enjoyed it but have to wonder what old age looks like in that lifestyle

She looked like a young version of Aneneka Rice.

I’ve watched most, if not all of New Lives... and they’ve all been fascinating, Ben gets really involved with the people, although he obviously has more empathy with some more than others. I won’t say I was envious of the couple in last nights episode, there are too many little comforts I’d miss, and I’m too bloody old now anyway! She’s got a very impressive physique, the lifestyle certainly helps her maintain what she developed as a gymnast, but she’s a bit... intense, and bit scary as well!

not seen the episode yet,so skipped to tend end of thread.

just wanted to say that it is one of my most favouritestest programmes on the telly. some of those featured are nuts or just running away from some dodgy past. others, however, i find are a real inspiration.

the GF mocks me saying that Ben is my man crush.

Thought last nights episode was great too.
With all the chaos with Brexit, it was a nice contrast 🙂
Seem like a nice bunch of people and how skilled were the kids!!

It was good but a pretty insular life for kids and undecided whether it was fair or selfish. Hope BF revisits in 5 and 10 years time.

I think it was clear that their life is anything but insular, with a fair number of nearby neighbours who seem to meet up fairly regularly, plus the girls themselves see their lives as having many advantages over an urban life, and are only too happy to get back home afte visits to a city, likely Vancouver.
I mean, how many kids of their age get to build their own house, using a professional wood cutting saw?
And go out in the woods with a hunting rifle to shoot their own food?
They live an extraordinary fulfilling existence, learning things even many adults will never ever get to do, and I’m really very, very envious.

The girls' whole day and presumably every day consisted of chores. Whilst most parents have tasks that their kids would do on a regular basis, it wouldn't be relentless and fill up the whole day. Yes, they socialised but iirc the young lad said that whilst he lived not far away which is obviously relative, by car it was something like 25km along a dirt road so not exactly round the corner! To be spending so much time with parents isn't healthy imo, quite suffocating, and feel that they're missing out, perhaps only sometimes, of what else the world has to offer.

As adults we may be envious but am not convinced that it's the best lifestyle for children, whilst obviously acknowledging that the more common lifestyle isn't necessarily the best either. Probably less extreme, with proper running water would be a start.

Watched this last night and felt that this family came across as quite balanced. If they lived a real insular existence I would have expected it to have been more evident in their (the kids) interactions with BF, instead they came across as gregarious and playful.
