Hello.

So we normally do our holidays in Scotland, west coast next to the water sort of thing.

Next year we want to go down south, thinking Pembrokeshire or the usually Devon, Cornwall etc but not precious about the specific place.

Looking for a nice place for our family (3 bedrooms) that is right next to the sea, I mean being able to walk out of the house and straight to the sea. We like sea kayaking and that sort of thing and just generally messing about in the water.

Anyone got any recommendations? Ideally would like something for no more than £2000 for a week in summer 2021.

Thanks

Have a look at Stackpole Quay cottages on the NT cottages website. A small grass field separates a them from a rocky cove and Barafundle is a 10 min walk or kayak from there.

Amroth - walk on to the beach, mix of sand and pebbles, facilities in Tenby and Saundersfoot just round the corner. Shallow beach so can be a walk at low tide (thinking carrying kayaks) but not so bad. Lydstep caravan park has direct access to the beach with carry down a ramp, with good access to Shrinkle Haven cliffs / arches. Pembrokeshire beaches often have accommodation nestled behind dunes/pebble barriers for flood protection. Also get busy with day trippers. Newgale and Broad Haven have direct access to wide sandy/pebble beaches and reasonable surf (west-facing). Little Haven better for launching kayak and visiting cliffs. e.g. Broad Haven, £1000 for a week: https://www.broad-haven.com/apartments/apartment-2-seaview/

Further north Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay on Anglesey have a number of properties with direct access to the beach with an interesting shoreline - rock pools, cliffs, sandy bays, and the RAF flying around. The north of Anglesey and Lleyn Peninsula also has lots of bays but I don't know many with houses on the waterfront, they tend to be caravan parks because of flood risk.

Assume since you sea kayak in West Scotland you are aware of tides, rips etc.

Dang it! Beech!!!! I have started a new job so my mind is mince, that is what I will blame it on...

Anyway, Konagirl, thanks I will look into that.

Our sea kayaking experience is pretty basic to be honest and we avoid strong tides, rips etc, mainly on sea lochs etc. However, we will probably do some courses or something to become more sea worthy.

But I can't find the property on the estate agents website the picture is hosted on!

You could rent my cottage 👍😀

I’m currently sat on my Kayak watching the kids play in the sea though so I’ll send details when I’m back.

It will however a lot less than £2k 😳😳

I suspect your money will go a lot further in Wales than Devon/Cornwall. We had a nice place in Broad Haven. Seemed to be quite a few in the area that are an easy walk to the beach.

That money might buy you one in parts of Norfolk. You may not get to enjoy it for long though.

On a more serious note, the back beach in Teignmouth has holiday let’s and a sunset over Dartmoor

Right sorry,

Here's our cottage, it's 280m to the beach. It's Aberdyfi Mid wales.

Things are much busier than normal though and August 2021 is nearly full, so whoever ou choose you may want to get it booked. These are not normal levels of demand..
