My wife does dog boarding.
Difficult sport that. Tried it once on a whippet. Sooo difficult to stay on.
Much easier on something wider and flatter like a Bernese.
Deserves more recognition that does. 😂
What breed of dog is it (or have I missed that in the thread)? As others have said, boredom, lack of mental exercise are the main reasons I’m guessing plus lack of training.
A small one that yaps a lot.
Rest of post, pretty much nailed it, I think.

Usually it's the wrong training.
e.g. They bark at the postman, letters go through the door, all hell gets let loose, then the nasty postman leaves. The dogs got it's reward.
It takes time and effort to overcome that, e.g. this example below. You have to condition them into a different response. So rather than activity on the driveway = barking, you replace it with activity on the driveway = run to dad and get given cheese, then before you know it you've got a dog that's no longer stressed (because that's what it is, a stress response to strangers) by people at the door. Et Voila, happier dog, happier neighbors, happier owners. But it requires owners to engage with a dog trainer beyond teaching it to sit in puppy school, more like 1on1 for a few hours. Then committing to implementing it consistently.
Some dog breeds are much more vocal than others too, I’ve got a dachshund who is pretty well trained but still barks at anyone coming on to our property as is massively territorial.
My neighbour has 4 cats, then decided that getting two dogs was a good idea.
It's an absolute nightmare but she is oblivious to the mayhem of dogs barking and chasing the cats .
Now the cats won't comeback to her so she stands on her backstep shouting for them to return home .
Our council is ****ing useless with dog noise complaints, we've got two spaniel-looking things over the road that are shut outside for hours at a time and just bark ****ing in-****ing-cessantly at any-****ing-thing. I've given up and am now waiting for them just die of old age (the arseholes who have the dogs and the dogs themselves.) ****ers.
Play the long game......should take about 10-15yrs depending on the size of the dog
Steal it and take it to a dog’s home in another town.
Yeah, no. They all have microchips these days.
