Cool, proper banning. In light of that I'd like to also say that the mods do an excellent job...

So there's this fella with a parrot. And this parrot swears like a sailor - I mean he's a pistol. He can swear for 5 minutes straight without repeating himself. Trouble is, the guy who owns him is a quiet, conservative type, and this bird's fowl mouth is driving him crazy.
One day, it gets to be too much, so the guy grabs the bird by the throat, shakes him really hard, and yells, "QUIT IT!". But this just makes the bird mad and he swears more than ever. Then the guy gets mad and says, "OK for you!" and locks the bird in a kitchen cabinet. This really aggravates the bird and he claws and scratches, and when the guy finally lets him out, the bird cuts loose with a stream of invective that would make a veteran sailor blush.
At that point, the guy is so mad that he throws the bird into the freezer. For the first few seconds there is a terrible din. The bird kicks and claws and thrashes. Then it suddenly gets_very_quiet.
At first the guy just waits, but then he starts to think that the bird may be hurt. After a couple of minutes of silence, he's so worried that he opens up the freezer door. The bird calmly climbs onto the man's out-stretched arm and says, "Awfully sorry about the trouble I gave you. I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary from now on.".
The man is astounded. He can't understand the transformation that has come over the parrot. Then the parrot says, "By the way, pardon me for asking, but what did the chicken do?".

both Ex pat. suspend the account for short bans, block the IP if people don't accept that
🙄 How can you block a user via an IP address? I access this site from at least three different locations. One of them is my mobile. I can also access it via any suitably accessible WiFi router. What's more, the IP address of my home router is not static.

got me there druidh. I have seen "blocked" against people names sometimes but yours for example was not "blocked" when you when you were banned I thought. Thats what I thought happened but presumably I was wrong. There does appear to me to be two different levels of banning / blocking that they do.
My other username (coyoteboy) was banned for a day for being a bit non-PC, then banned for an undisclosed period for posting an image in a thread that happened to be a bit non-PC despite my post being simply an image (I wasnt even informed of the duration) during which time the site was hacked and I took the opportunity to revive myself with a new ID. I seem to have been a good boy since though, as I've only once been moaned at for replying to and old thread 😯 .
I don't hold it against them though, its their forum, not a democracy.
druidh - the mlehworld mods blocked my IP at home and work... until the site got updated.
Who were you on Mleh, Kit? I was only aware of one enforced ban (Pete36) and a couple of voluntary account deletions?
I got 5 bans here, never once told how long any were for.
TJ if you create a new logon and mods see you posting from the same IP as your old logon, they delete your account. I think. That's what appeared to happen to me anyway.
IIRC Kit was DrMallory on mleh (and here) - didn't he ask to be deleted though?
Yeah as I thought Al, I thought Pete was the only enforced ban.

Aye, Superstar_Opponents says he was definitely down for 27 years and 4 months with a note that he "should know better".
He also says Kit gets a clap for being in the mleh ban club with pete 36 and a load of porn bots...
I didn't realise Superstar_Opponents got banned again. What did he do this time? I must have missed it

I got banned for 2 hours for tag spamming, specifically a particular person was noted as being "= troll" on EVERY thread they had participated in. It was worth it!
