[#2157252]

Gave a chap I did some work for my bank details so he could pay me direct and just realised the sort code I gave him was incorrect (one digit should of been a 2 not a 1).

He told me he had done the payment.

What can I / he do about it?

what toad says - if it ends up int he wrogn account you're pretty much reliant on the other person 'fessing up and giving the money back...

The money should come back to him soon. The chances of you "guessing" an alternative sort code and account number are pretty slim.

Grrr this is the icing on the cake for the bad luck I am having this week - who says things come in three - I on about 12 at the moment!!

Spoke to my bank and spoke to a person not of this country who provided less information than what a quick google search would provide.

Phoned the bank again, still didn't get 'my' branch but spoke to another UK branch and she took the details and said it was unlikely that the account exsists and the money should have bounced back.

However all details need to come from sender not reciever for them to do anything which is fair enough.

I did mention that the bank I bank with, the bank the money came from and potentially went to incorrectly are all the same and does that help in these sort of things and she said yes - fingers crossed!

Typically the sender is away on Holiday at the moment, spoke to his second in command who told me his Dad has all the bank stuff so would get in contact with him and see if he could see if the money has bounced back!
It's not money I can loose but at least it isn't 20k like one lady reported on Martin's money tips!

Oh one other thing, he had logged on his internal accounts that the payment was done on the 24th October (which seems about right).

Any idea on how long a bounce back would take?
