So it tells me anyway. So which package is everyone who currently uses "AVG free" (which is very good IMO) going to use next?
Incidentally, i thought AVG did this last year - warned that free service would be pulled but then it wasn't? I thought that was how I got from 7.somethng to 7.5
AVG 8.5.283 free now available. Running calmly enough on my Vista box.
Available to be installed with out the linkcscanner which is good as linkscanner really slows down google page returns and having it disabled always show as being "unprotected". not installing it isnt a risk if you're wary of phishing.
I think that this is the main method that AVG use to get people to pay for their products- iirc the notice fails to mention that there is still a free version to migrate to. I think it's getting more and more difficult to find the free product on their website too...
Better off without it anyway.
Might be a good time to consider switch to avast!
avast is very good, but yeah AVG is good enough too and it's still free if you upgrade to version 8.5 as stoner said...
