Hi all,
Brake caliper on my Mk1 Focus has siezed. Ive been told that some auto parts company's offer a one for one swap type deal (for a lower cost than buying a new part).
Anyone know of any company's that do this in Edinburgh, ideally south Ed?
Ta, Duane
Go buy reconditioned one and pay surcharge (prolly about £20-30 for what you're wanting)
Fit it, return old one, and get surcharge back (provided the old one's not totally ****ed, which for a brake caliper is near impossible unless you've been driving around for the past month with no brake pads left)
As for where, yell.com and motor factors.
(or ask a friendly mechanic 😉 )
Unipart might do remanufactured calipers.
Or get a secondhand one on breakeryard.com or go to a scrapyard.
Camskill do replacement reconditioned units for a lot of cars. Usually charge a £50 excess that you get back when you send them your old bit. Much cheaper than buying new bits, and more piece of mind than a £20 scrapyard gamble.
