So my French teacher wants me to start recording some spoken French semi-adlibed.

Looking for a vaguely decent audio recording app which lets you do basic editing, eg crop and start appending to the end of a section. I've tried half a dozen so called podcast apps from the Widows App store and they were all totally useless - all exactly the same, you can make one recording and when you hit stop, that's it - here's your file, now frack off!

Does Clipchamp not let you edit audio files (it's normally a video editor)

If you want to be able to clip, add stuff and move stuff around then audacity is great.  This is especially true if you want to save the file as mp3 as not all the free software lets you

Edit:too slow

PowerPoint probably can do it, then export the media to a file

Do you have a smartphone? Don't they all have perfectly decent voice recorders with a few basic features?

Was going to suggest Audacity. Seems to be good for what you want.
