IMO hardly a fitting punishment when you get to change the setup of the car and avoid any potential first corner incidents. It's not as if he'll struggle to get past the HRT's et al.

Having missed most of this season due to being stuck in the desert, can anyone explain to me why everyone seems to hate Vettel / Red Bull so much?

It'll keep the WC alive, anything that does that is good IMO

Some shenanigans went on with what's looks like RB pulling the wool over the stewards eyes regarding the stop, he only had 850ml of fuel after they carried it back so I guess they were hoping to have squeezed it in with this trick.
Following McClaren's similar penalty and a clarification of the rules, they knew exactly what was allowed.

Dgb1, that was my implication. Ferrari will use massa to keep vettel back as long as possible, after that is an Alonso/Vettel battle.

Unless something happens, Vettel won't get anywhere near Alonso today.
This is a track where overtaking is very difficult, Vettel won't get the chance to blast past the lower orders from the start, he can't move until the last car has past the pit exit, he then needs to negotiate that tunnel etc. As soon as he gets on the back of the middle runners, he'll start to lose time hand over fist.
His only hopes today are a DNF for Alonso or another random event that gives him better track position.

torro rosso will et him past and the back end teams will be easy pickings

But then there's. crash kid Roman kamikaze kid , and then he has to get past the faster cars at the front end and that won't be easy as the Rb is not quick on the straights unless they can change top gear

Might add a bit of spice to a boring venue .

And Massa is not prone to letting folks past easy

@jota180 - i agree. I think Vettel's "extra" lap in Q1 might have had something to do with his lack of fuel at the end.

All on the assumption that the 1st corner goes well, I'd be a little worried about who is now in P3 on the grid.

It should make for an interesting race and if LH can maintain his 1lap pace over race distance. Actually looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

At last, Vettel gets punished.

Sounds more like Red Bull getting punished to me, highly doubt that Vettel fueled the car
