Has decided to lead an Orange march in Scotland. for those of you not following the minutiae of Scots politics the last few years the orange order have been trying to provoke the nationalists and the nationalist ( a much broader movement than just the SNP) made a concious decision to simply ignore them. The Orange order ran a unionist demo in Edinburgh and the word was: " No counter demo, just ignore them" Basically this has been working. Ignoring them and not organising counter demos has meant the orange order have not been getting the column inches as without a good scrap there is no story.
But now Foster is going to lead a march thru fife - ( fortunately not Glasgow)
I can only see this causing huge trouble - I am sure there will be counter demos. Is that playing into fosters hands? Does she realise how provocative it is? Large slice of religious bigotry anyone? Foster is rapidly becoming one of my most hated politicians.
I think its good how she demonstrates how out dated and out of step with reality her parties politics and attitudes are. This just cements it further

Just a suggestion, maybe sponsor the march to raise funds for abortion clinics or LGBT rights rather than have a counter march. Raise banners and cheer them on, making sure they know the causes they are helping. Our German friends did similar....

Not really. Having lived through 40 years of the DUP I can firmly say that their tactics are fear, division and hate. Their long standing views on the catholic religion, republic of lreland, homosexuality and even how old the earth is, puts them in the hate machine category.
You make a good point about her past. Events have led to her politics being driven by her hate and anger. Stark contrast to peter Robinson whose politics was driven by ambition which lead to NI actually having a government.

Ah the DUP and its prehistoric followers. Arlene is quite the character , i live in N.I and i've yet to hear anybody say a good word about her,yet she is top power house. But at july time over here something weird happens. People you know and work with all year descend into a state of tribalism and devolution. Pre july you would all be mates, but once the bowler hats and sash comes out along with the mini union flags, the DUP poll rating goes through the roof as the bile that has been boiling inside all year finally spills over in the july heat.
