In what way, exactly? I have it on my iP6+ and my iPad Pro, and I honestly don’t know what you mean by ‘shocking’.

Shocking in the glitchy way it works.

the layout.

the lag and drain on battery plus what real benefit is there to it.

I read a v long article on why to stay on 10.3.3 and not to download ios 11 but now want to stick with 10.3.3 still

Just don’t download it? I’m struggling to see why it is difficult to not tap “yes” when asked to download.

BUT don’t expect application developers to bother supporting your old iOS. Don’t expect any security updates and, bearing in mind they’re are several publically known vulnerabilities in iOS 10, don’t use your phone to access anything at all remotely important. Do t expect me as a web developer to bother maintaining backward support for your old web browser. Don’t expect Apple to sort out any issues you have without insisting on upgrading you to a current iOS.

They’re right don’t it’ll trash your phone. All 6 iOS devices in our house since upgrading have all worked perfectly. Oh wait I mean yeah it’ll be fine.

I'm running 11 pm my iPad Pro and it's absolutely fine. No glitches and battery life is excellent.

Down loaded IOS 11 and it's fine. Not aware of any issues. Battery life not suffered at all. Not great on my 6, usually easily lasts a day, but if I hammer the phone it will need a top up charge at some point. That's fair enough, no different to other alternative smartphones. I call BS. Typical internet twiddle, only hear about the small percentage of people who have issues but the overwhelming majority don't have an issue.

But if it really bothers you just don't download it. It's your decision.

How old is this phone that is downloading the update? If it's a 6 then you can get a cheap replacement battery installed by Apple. Should help with the drain.

The rest of it reads a tad luddite unfortunately and as Rachel says your phone is not secure on iOS 10.

iOS 11 pretty much halved the battery life on my iPad Pro.
I held off updating my iPhone 7 but relented due to the security issues.
The iphones battery life is also far worse than it was previously.

iOS 11 saved me a fortune! Now on a mid range android phone (A8 2018 Dual SIM) and it's light-years ahead of iOS. The hardware is better too. Works better with my MacBook Pro (go figure....).

There's a simplicity to iOS that's appealing but you pay for it in lack of functionality, choice and ultimately financial cost too.

On and on and me seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

when I found it automatically downloading I panicked as did not want to do this but now find a notification to install so I'll just not press that.

cheers

I don’t expect to buy an iPhone 5S and have it last only 2 bloody years until the IOS 11 upgrade trashes the Home button, and I don’t expect to have people suggest I’m some backwards Luddite because I don’t want to be forced to upgrade my phone to a new model every 5 minutes.

I accept batteries don’t last forever, but it’s a bit crap that apple have slashed the price of a battery but only for iPhone 6 and up.

We live in such a ridiculously throwaway society where equipment becomes obsolete in months so we just chuck it and buy new all the time.
