I'm doing some work creating an ensuite bathroom under a building warrant (these may not exist outwith Scotland?)
The ensuite is to go into a room that is separated from another room by an existing stud wall. It turns out this is made of plywood and would not be up to current fire regs. But as I am not doing anything to it bar putting a light switch in there (and I don't even have to do so), I shouldn't have to replace it?
Your thoughts thankyouplease?
i don't think fire is relevant as its only separating an ensuite from a bedroom?? if the ply is going to form part of the ensuite wall thats fine too. in a new ensuite i generally spec a sheet of ply under plasterboard or tiles anyhow as its better for fixing etc.
you tired of that heckler yet?
Im not familiar with scotish regs, but doubt if it needs to be fire rated. However, if it does need to be fire rated you can simply clad with plasterboard rather than taking plywood off if thats any help? Doubt it needs fire rating though
I thought that bathroom walls need to be cement board rather than plaster board?
No Richc we dot n dab in bathrooms, and fix normal pboard to stud walls.
You can also get moisture resistant boards if you do wish.
Cheers all, I may stick some plasterboard on top then, if I CBA (stud wall is a cavity wall with ply on both sides).
Still loving the H fenboy, it's almost my least ridden bike recently though.
if its a painted finish you want add pboard, if tiles(ensuite side) just tile straight on.
and If you ever decide you've grown tired of the H let me know! 🙂
