Keep your friends close and your enemies closer

Just stick him in a cage in yer office then? Poke him with a stick from time to time. Sounds a bit cruel? Nah, Flashy wouldn't think so. He voted Tory after all! 😀

How much would it cost and would it be possible to live away from everything?

Are there any MTB communities, where people simply make the money they need to live and then spend the rest of their time enjoying life, surely somewhere someone has rebelled and escaped the ratrace?

the rebellion would be put down.. or.. civil war and guerilla skirmishes and terrorist attacks and anarchy.. followed by mob rule.. then more civil war.. leading to really bad bullies being in charge rather than silly rich spoilt ones.. followed by more war.. with UN peacekeepers and stuff..

lets start tomorrow

EDIT: ahhh.. you actually mean what if we dropped out..

do it.. it's ace.. very good for the spirit and for clarity of mind.. enriching and enlightening..

I have a cousin-in-law who met his wife while backpacking around India. After a few years together there they then spent six years together backpacking in South America. They and a small like-minded group of fellow travelers then returned to the US with a plan - they worked all out for a year and a bit, whatever jobs they get while continuing to live in a frugal backpacking way. They then pooled all the cash they had and bought a chunk of land in Alaska and an electricity generating windmill. That was seven years ago.

They built earth houses on the land - houses which are still serving most of them fine - but when my CiL's wife got pregnant (five years ago now) they decided they needed something more permanent (for want of a better word). They got an old school bus towed onto the homestead, half buried it for insulation purposes and now call it home!

They get seasonal odd jobs working for highway maintenance crews and the like to bring in cash, but they are largely self-sufficient. They're certainly not part of the rat-race, but their life is not one I could live full-time. Nice to visit though!

So yes, definitely possible (except that it's not a mtb community, of course...).

I wasn't thinking about dropping out or living in a hut, although it doesn't sound too bad!

More having a good amount of money and managing it effectively, let's face it, if we had our own pub, we would save a fortune, if we had our own garage, we would save a fortune, infact the list of ways that we could be more effective with money/resources is endless.

But you guys are right, let's wait for the government to sort the sh1t out. It's not like the longer we wait the more likely our species will become extinct 😯

Crass

Didn't know this lot were still going but it's kind of nice that they are and they still have some very angry/moronic followers judging by the comments on the youtube page.

They Aren't still going, they disbanded around 1985/6. A few years ago Steve Ignorant wanted to do a Crass gig, but the others didn't want anything to do with it. Penny Rimbaud only gave his consent to Crass material being used because he'd previously allowed some American Folky type to use the material, so was sort of forced into a corner, he could hardy refuse Steve Ignorant. Steve Ignorant wasn't allowed to use the name Crass, but did the gig under some other name. It was a one off by Steve Ignorant, not a Crass revival.
As for comments posted against any videos on You Tube, I can't imagine any intelligent person would attribute any comments posted on YT to those held by any individual members of any band, most stuff posted under any band on there is utter tosh.

TSY - you need to stay away from those dating sites. It's not good for one's health and sanity!

Is my daughter at your's?

I thought she was at yours?!

I bet she's out on the tiles again, slipped us both a lie!

Re those sites I think you're right. Possibly more addictive than this place.

TSY - oh, she may be in That Lahndun! This place is more fun than dating sites - everyone is far far nicer in real life. The same may or may not be said of those from dating sites.

TSY - well, maybe it's a bit different for you, ahem, younger than me guys. I got 29 year olds asking me if I wanted fun, believe me I am no cougar. 😯

I decided I didn't want to go down that road any more so cancelled. These companies are just taking advantage of people who are in a particular situation at a particular time. I honestly believe that it is not the best way to meet people, ie in a contrived situation.

Elf - you wouldn't recognise her, she looks nothing like me!

C_G Overall I'm inclined to agree with you.

I get a lot of women far older than me making contact. Luckily it's balanced out with some sound women of my age too.
Heading off for another repeat date with a young lady who so far has defied the sane/single/attractive pick 2 joke.

Seriously, first dates with randoms from these sites is painful at first but quickly becomes addictive.
