A9 is a rather long road, you'll need to give a bit more detail as entirely likely there will be more than 1 car that lost the roof bars and bikes!

I've had bolts fail on my old Thule, they slowly corroded through, went over a bump and one snapped and the bike came loose. Luckily was only 500 yards from home and the cable lock I used to secure them kept it on. On a motorway, without the cable lock, the bike would have gone bouncing off down the carriageway....

Anything to fit a lanky 9 year old. It's a bit of a trek from here but I might chance it on current stock levels in the shops.
