Looking forward to the witty??!! And sensible replies, its the type that looks like a mirror when turned off,currently when any button is pushed on the remote it goes into standby mode, maybe it could be the remote?

First thing I'd do is buy a universal remote. For a fiver you can see if it is the remote or not. I suspect anything else will be hard to fix.

Could be the remote, or a factory reset on the telly might be possible - look up the make and model to see if that's an option. Presumably you can get at the buttons, even if it's a bit of a faff.

Then try remote. Is it waterproof as well? (could be wet inside)
