Experiences please? How far can they run? Would they make a good riding companion?

Yes. They're bloody ace, ours used to do 15-20 miles no worries. He loves sleeping in tents is friendly and everyone loves him. He is 15 or 16 now and can only manage a brief stroll on the beach and then he likes to sleep and have cuddles.

My JR would have got bored after 10 mins, sacked it in and called a taxi home. Could run for miles to track down a bitch on heat and had a taste for cider and chicken tikka masala.

I've got three. They run all day until they drop. Brilliant dogs.

My Mum has one. I truly believe he would play 'fetch' for the entire day.

Are's deffintely will ๐Ÿ˜ฏ . No chance of him joining me for a ride though, he'll head home if I go for a jog around the park.

Flo, a proper unreconstituted Queen Bitch Jack Russell.
Won't even get out of bed, never mind run, unless it involves a bit of hunting, killing or eating. Very quick over a yard or two, but prefers kipping in a sunny patch.
Loves people. Hates everything else.

Never managed to tire out my girlfriends parsons Jack Russell yet. He'd make a good trail dog if I could train him to follow me instead of disappear for upto 10 mins at a time whenever he picks up a deer/rabbit/horse/badger scent ๐Ÿ˜†

Suppose its just his hunting instincts taking over. He doesn't like d/h mtb'ers either for some reason ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The in-laws have a Jack Russell, she's great, loves tennis balls or chasing a laser pointer dot!

get a parsons jack russell, you'll appreciate the longer legs if its for trail dog duties. as with all itelligent dogs, keep it busy or it'll be bored and mischievous

don't get one of those silly ones with the short legs unless you intend to go rabbiting with it

Mine can run for a couple of hours when we're out on bikes. Need to pause on long downhills for him to catch up though.
