Must send mine back! Anyone sent one back which wasn't 100% functional, still works, just not the screen!
Mine had a cracked screen ,it still lit up but half of it was illegible.
Sent it ack anyway and received a shiny new Nano back earlier this week.
Another 6th genn in silver just turned up here, PR heaven for apple this and a real one in the eye for the nay sayers....
Still waiting ..... ๐
I returned mine towards the end of November, still only showing as empty box dispatched so phoned apple last night, the guy I spoke to reckoned the backlog had been cleared so it must have been lost in the post. Said if I emailed a scan of the postage receipt he'd force a replacement.....now I can't find the bloody reciept GRRRRR
Postage receipt? Mine went out via UPS.
Anyway, got the replacement today. Interesting they're not using the retina display on it so the icons look a bit low-res.
Got it!!!! ๐
Just getting round to putting mine in the post. On the shipping instructions there seems to be something missing; an address! If there was a postage label it has been lost.
Where did you all send it to?
Anyone help me with the address to send it to?
You're supposed to have got a pre-paid and pre-addressed return bag. If yours isn't I'd get on to Apple and ask for another one.
Stilltortoise - I can't remember, but I don't think the bag did have an address on it. Just a sticker with a bar code and some reference numbers. That seems to be enough though, I sent mine off in that and they've received it and tied it up with my request. Mine is now 'product replacement pending'.
Mmm, sounds like I never got that or I've lost it
I applied and my special bag never appeared so I phoned them and they sent a replacement, now I've got my shiny new 8 gb Nano. The only problem is that the new Nanos don't charge off things like sound docks; the word on the web is that Apple have re-configured the Nano to prevent this and to ensure that you use only Apple approved chargers. It charges off the wall charger or the USB connection though.
It's not Apple excluding 3rd party chargers, it's manufacturers not adhering to the USB standard. iPods used to have a FireWire interface, so could accept an unregulated voltage (6-12V) on the FireWire pin and do it's own voltage conversion, so 3rd party accessories used that instead of doing the regulated USB output like they were advised to. FireWire is now gone from the iPods, so if there is no voltage on the USB pin, then the accessory won't work.
Got a nice shiny silver one here too - the returns went to their depot at Magna Park in Lutterworth, LE17.
Now to decide what to do with the new one as have a 30gb, a 3GS and a 4 so slightly redundant!
Prices on eBay crap now (loads of people selling their replacements) so hardly worth selling.
