I've just got an alloy one and was using it last night while out chilling in the sun. It's brilliant, and I still remember and can do, some of the tricks from years ago 😉

Also on a more serious note I think it's good for eye hand co-ordination and reaction times, as thing flies back at you sometimes.

Highly recommended for some fun.

My kid sneaked £8 into school and came back with a fancy one with some kind of clutch which automatically sends the yo yo back up the string. Sounded like cheating to me.

I remember having these ones:

I even remember having the gold one! I have no idea what happened to them.

I think I could do all the tricks I could do as a kid... I'll never try one again so at least I can still think this. 😉

I still have my fanta one only its blue edged with the white centre. The gold ones were only given out with the golden ring pull. I never had one of those.

There's a big con job going round the schools, where someone shows off a load of fancy tricks to 8 year olds, then they offer cheapo yo-yos for about ooh, say £8 a go (up to £12 iirc) (You know, ones that can be had for about £3 on eBay).
Parents are supposed to fork out for a fly-by-night trend that the kids will get bored of in a few weeks. Can't believe the schools fall for it.

I still have my Russell Spinner (green Sprite one) along with a bunch of others.

Timely thread though; I treated myself to a new ball-bearing butterfly one whilst at Glastonbury a few weeks ago. Really struggling with it, it's a bit of a paradigm shift from fixed-axel.

I've got a small army of yoyos (4 on my desk at work, about a dozen on my desk at home). Bought one of these on Monday which arrived yesterday, haven't thrown it properly yet.

Latest tricks I have nailed are "Rancid Milk" and "Grandma Kimmett Sandwich"

Mummy says I'm not allowed a yo yo since I put one through a glass door...
38 years ago (Still not risking it though)
