i need to pick a shed up and looking at hiring a drop side van to collect it - however the dismantled shed panels will be slightly wider than the payload area of the van so will need the side leaving down to get it on. length is fine. anyone know if this is A) safe and B) legal to drive? obviously will be well anchored down with ratchet straps etc

Used to own a little tiny Honda one.

When carrying something too wide we'd generally prop it up diagonally over one edge, rather than leave the side down.

Gravity should help keep it on board as well as the ratchet straps then.

Or the sides usually slide ut of the hinge. Then strap those down on top of the shed. Ratchet straps ftw mind!

cheers hadn't appreciated the sides comes off! it will only overhang maybe 200mm at max and have plenty of straps. looks like it'll be a winner then 🙂

The sides come off many but not all drop sides (prevented on some to reduce risk of them being nicked) and if you can't it'd definitely be better to put in at an angle with sides up. If that's not possible you'll need to restrain them somehow too.
