if you believe wales are a top 4 team in Europe (given theres 4 teams left) then you really know nothing about football

If you don't believe they are in the semi final of a tournament then you don't understand football.

How else do you think they should score a game? By some kind of Top Trumps method?

ransos - being the semi's doesn't mean jack shite, other than you've had an easy route to get there

your telling me Iceland are a good team? had they beaten france and been here in the semi's you'd still think Iceland were good??? at what point have they been good?

and wales have played crap teams (lost to England who are crap) and beat Belgium with a flukey result 🙂

It means you're in the semi-finals. It's a tournament.

They were good enough to get to the quarter-finals. It's a tournament.

Still having trouble with the concept of tournament football, I see.

OW - If France or Germany lose the final to wales, do you think they'll say "oh we didn't win but at least we're a better team than Wales".

Will they buggery, it all about winning and nothing else.

I think Wales would be happy to be considered 'shite' by OW if they fluke their way into the final. 😀

I take it he's not been watching Portugal much. If they turn up and play for a change, fine, but they've not actually won a game yet.

Apart from beating a top 4 pre-tournament favourite of course.

The apparently simple concept of how a tournament works has completely passed you by, hasn't it?

OW so have you actually watched any matches? Portugal are the only team in the semis to qualify for your 'shite' label on the showing in this tournament so far.

My grandmother was called Dilys, no need for pretence here!

But not your Nain?

I'm not Welsh, and won't be supporting Wales.

I understand your position completely as I would give the English the steam off my pee either.
EDIT: OW, you come into a thread titled " Any Welsh football fans in today?", you're clearly not Welsh and have poor understanding of the english language. Why should anyone respect your football pundrity as being anything other than shite?

I'll be happy whatever the score is, the boys have done us proud and even if we get thumped 10-0 I'll still be a proud Welshman tomorrow.

yep ive watched all thanks Johndoh - theyve had an easy route through

russia = awful , england = woeful (and lost LOL), slovakia (almost as bad as russia), northern ireland - (again awful & own goal from a cross)

and then a freak result against belgium, who are a far far far superior team in every way shape and form (bar that one game)

im not disputing they are in the semi's as they are, but they are still shite and have had an easy road to get there bar one fluke result again belgium

byeeeeeeeee, off to watch ronny score a hat-trick now

Wales are well coached, and playing very well. However let's be honest - they don't have the depth of world class players that other teams have. Bearing that in mind, adjusted for player market value, they've already won the tournament 🙂

A well organised team of world class players playing well will beat them, I reckon. Not sure Portugal are that, though - hence the hope 🙂

I'll be happy whatever the score is, the boys have done us proud and even if we get thumped 10-0 I'll still be a proud Welshman tomorrow.

Abso bloody lutely. Da iawn lads.

Blimey! 😯

Do you think he's gone for good? He sure is having a bad day! 😕

the fact English mongo's are getting on the bandwagon of wales makes it even more embarrassing, infact just tragic

That made me lol though! 😀

and then a freak result against belgium,

Hardly as the last three results of Wales v Belgium are that Wales have won 2 and drawn 1.

What happened?

Edit: I learned how to read. Someone's chips have been well and truly pissed on it seems. It's ok to not support a team, but no need to be a dick about it. Between Wales and Portugal, I would like to see Wales win. However, if they come up against Germany I want to see Germany flatten them due to being half German. But I won't be a monumental asshat about it.....well, maybe a little.

I'm Welsh and shall be supporting them heartily.

And as a double bonus (and to reiterate my boast from a few weeks ago in the other euros thread), I also designed the stadium* they are playing in. GO ME! 8)

*I promise I'll stop boasting soon

go through the starting 11 of both teams and tell me which ones OTHER than bale (and possibly ramsey when he bothers to turn up for arsenal) would get into any of the top teams in the world?

Watch any premier league football this year? Learn anything?

And the last three times we played them before that, dating back to 2013?

Well it seems to me that all the support Wales received from the English had the unfortunate effect of turning them into England.

don't really get the anger rascal - wales aren't good, they aren't good to watch

they were better than any other british (inc Ireland) team in the tournament, but what exactly does that say?! not a lot given the rest are crap too

knew they'd get beaten easily in the end by a 'good' team you cant have half a team of championship (some cases premiership rejects) and expect to win tournaments

they are lucky they didn't play Germany, or it would have just been embarrasing

I only said what a lot are thinking.
So what logic says Portugal are good, whereas Belgium are not good?
Just for the record, we didn't 'expect' to win anything.

wales did 'well', I don't disagree, they over performed in the sense of getting to the semi's, I'm not doubting that

however, I personally don't think they are a good team, in the sense that if Iceland beat france, I don't think they are a good team either.

what logic says Portugal are good, is that Portugal have been there or there abouts in the last god knows how many tournaments, that's why they are good.

Belgium are a strange one, they have on paper a better team than anyone else in the tournament (bar maybe Germany/france) so to me that's a freak result, blame it on the manager, individuals, I don't care but wales are NOT in any planet better than Belgium, in the sense that Iceland are NOT better than England.

Better collection of individual players does not always equal better team. As someone who has had the misfortune of watching England matches this is obviously true. That's why football is interesting - we watch it for the times when other factors than the sum of the parts determines the result. Wales 'on paper' are weaker, but they maximised their potential and fully deserved to beat Belgium. Didn't feel like a freak at all. Their problem was the lack of Plan B/C once Ramsey had got himself suspended.

If you subscribe to the 'must be a good/shite team' principle you could just run an algorithm based on their collective Fifa 16 stats, award the trophy on a Skype chat and save everyone the bother of heading to France and smashing the place up.

granted the collection of players doesn't make a good team, England is a prime example, but that doesn't mean they cant be good, they have the potential to be a very very good team, wales dont. England has always lacked a decent manager to get the best out of the players

Imagine if England had a manager like coleman that could get the best out of a very very very average group of players (bale/ramsey) aside

I don't actually blame England players, the system they play/manager is the most embarrassing thing about them.

wales over performed, but I still stand that they had a very very easy route to get that far, as would England had too, had they not been so shit

😆 England do have some potentially great players though, just like they always have done, getting them to play well together (which purely rests on the managers head to me), is another story

I totally agree that Wales exceeded expectations.
However, to brand them as 'shite' is bollocks.
We did brilliantly well given it was our first tournament in 58 years.
A few of our players do not play at the highest level - fair enough - but it shows what a bit of togetherness, pride and not having any pampered primadonna Billy Big Bollocks players in your team can do.

We weren't good enough to beat Portugal on the night.
The team and fans have been a credit to Wales and for that I am very thankful.

I'm still mystified why, given the latest methods to psychologically prepare England's players, rubbish teams like Wales do better than us... 😀

Well done Wales. You lot must be chuffed overall.

i think the euros is a bit poor TBH anyways, the world cup shows true class, as i don't think in the world cup any team gets an 'easy' ride into the quarter finals, let alone the semi's

id be proud if i was welsh, id also be incredibly annoyed that English people decided to switch allegiances to support the welsh as soon as England crashed out (wasn't that when we beat em eh?!, but that sums up English people)

I'm not sure on what planet folk getting carried away thought wales would win it though, the level of the tournament in general has been pretty poor IMO, and i still stand by the fact they had an easy route to get there..

but lets face it we all knew Germany would get right near to the final, before they even kicked a ball.

world cup for me, is the daddy, nothing comes close, stick all those fast paced south American teams(decent footballing teams who try to play good football), and the likes of Iceland, wales, northern Ireland etc etc etc etc would not have a sniff near the qaurters

English fans generally support the other home nations in tournaments. Not everyone hates their neighbours.
