[Closed] Any tilers in the house?

Looking for a bit of advice.

We have some ply steps which have been tiled. Unfortunately the tiles have come off.

The ply is 18mm and the steps are quite strong and robust, no flexing

It would appear the adhesive has not stuck to the ply.

Our tiler is claiming that the steps are flexing (although the tiles on the sides have come off as well)

Any suggestions / comments welcome.

Cheers

(not a tiler)

Can you post pics?

I'm betting the adhesive hasn't taken - in which case the tiler has used the wrong one or not primed the ply. Is the adhesive all stuck to the tiles when they've come off. If it was a flexing issue and not an adhesive issue, you'd be more likely to be looking at broken tiles.

Is the adhesive all stuff to the back of the tile or is there any stuck to the ply? You can seal the plywood which is what we've done in the apst but not on steps.

as above, if they're popping off then adhesive, if they're crackign then flex.

I'd still be a bit concerned about ply flexing, tbh, even at 18mm it's kind of designed to have a bit of give in it.

Thanks for the replies

I have a suspicion it's the wrong adhesive / not prepping the ply properly
