I'm supposed to be having a Cardiomemo machine thing fitted today.. anyone had one of these done?
I really need to know how practical this is going to be on the hottest week of the year!
How can I not shower for 4 days?
Can I cycle to work and get sweaty?

I'm on the verge of phoning to cancel, so if anyone can tell me this thing isn't going to be as intrusive as it sounds...

Just get it done. They’ll probably be interested to know what happens when you exercise - but ask first!

Depending on how many wires you have you may need to be inventive on cleaning.

All depends if intrusive is more of a bother to you than knowing if your heart works correctly?. Wasn't it you that had a bit of a stroke on the bike? (Sorry if i have you mixed up with another poster).

Get it done, shallow bath will at least let ye keep yer baws and hole clean.

TIA.
I know my heart doesn't work correctly - had tests , on meds. 🙂
Been fine since, if lacking in stamina. Just think it might be better to put this off for a month or so.

One of my colleagues had one fitted yesterday. they gave him some extra stickers so he could wash / shower and his wife could re-attach them for him.

unless you don't care for your wellbeing.

Get it done.

Buy some baby wipes.

Get into an internet argument about music.

Post the resulting trace for analysis.

Good plan. Can you recommend a site for this? 😀

Cheers ton, lowey. Good to know. My wellbeing is the least of my worries when having BO is at stake.

Better plan.

Get into an internet argument about music.
Input the resulting trace into a drum machine, add some jangly guitars and get a chippy Northerner to read out some sullen sixth form poetry and then try and convince random internet strangers that it's better than Take That or something.

"Wasn’t it you that had a bit of a stroke on the bike?"

That could have been me...In that I did have a stroke while riding my bike but may not be the poster you were referring to.

When I had mine fitted they supplied extra fittings just in case but it was fine and I didn't need them. definitely do not cancel the appointment.

don't cancel ! Recently found out I have some coronary disease and need to temper my exercise intensity - no history, no lifestyle indicators.... Get it checked...

...and then buy an ebike, mine's on order 🙂

My wellbeing is the least of my worries when having BO is at stake.

I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness, and if you die because of a delayed diagnosis I'll be mildly regretful, albeit briefly.

Yep, I’ve had one. Pretty easy to live with, you disconnect the wires from the patches to shower, reattach it afterwards. Dead easy. Sleeping with it is a bit more of a PITA coz of the wires, but that’s gonna be the same whether it snowing or blazing. I wouldn’t give it a second thought, get it fitted and sorted. Oh and they give you extra patches for if any come off.

Yeah, quite worried about this, bad sleeper anyway. Oh well, I have drugs.

Get it done. I sweated most of them off on a bike ride and didn't hear the beeping as I was riding. Just refitted them when got home (nurse had put on dots in permanent pen to show where!) And it all seems to have gone well in that it confirmed my dodgy beats when exercising.

Still! Waiting for my cardiac MRI....

Never cancel an appointment with NHS unless for a life or death matter. It is a black mark on your file. You cannot control when you will be given a new appt., and if for some reason you cannot keep the new one that is two missed appts., and they close your file and refer you back to your GP. Then you have to start the whole time consuming process all over again.

Your ticker has got to be more important than missing a shower or two.

I had a one day monitor early this year but they want to do a 3 day starting 31st July, I'll ask for some spare patches and mention I cycle 40Km a day and I will be showering.

Just in case anyone missed it, ask the nurse to mark the patch locations on your skin with a permanent pen. Very helpful!

I've already cancelled this from a few months ago. Must've been May cos I was reffing a rugby tournament. So, yeah, I won't cancel this one.
I will tell them I intend to sweat buckets, as normal. 🙂

I think Claude Jeremiah Greengrass is in the same category as Joe Cocker.

^^ Who?! Er, why?!

Got the thing on now. Quite small and unobtrusive really. Nurse appreciated that it was hot weather, gave me a load of spare patches. Hopefully, will cope until Friday. Appreciate the input from the STW folk, cheers all.
