Just swapping one virgin fibre WiFi box for a new one (cos rolling on to new price plan with them, I dunno - they sent it).

Old one worked fine this morning. Unscrewed the white cable that comes into the house from the old box, screwed it into the new one, turned it on. Instructions say a 5-10 min wait and I should be up and running.

It's been 4 hours now, with no sign of it working.

I'm just intrigued as to why it doesn't work? The Internet came down the cable fine this morning, so why is it now not able to get in the box and then through the air? My new contract doesn't start for a couple of weeks, so it can't be that..?

There are terrible things going on in the world, far worse than me having no WiFi or TV for a few hours, so this isn't a complaint, I'm just really interested in why it's gone wrong? Seems simple enough to me haha

What happens if you plug the old box back in?

If its this new MAC address, why haven't they set it up? I've called customer services 3 times, followed instructions etc - why is there not a button for them to click to do it again?

I suggested I put the old box back in, but they said not too - it wouldn't work as my connection is now connected to the new box or something 🤷‍♂️

It's Sunday. BT did that to me once.

I hope you pointed out it clearly wasn't

unscrewed, its a coax connection then? Check the central core is not bent/snapped and that the metal shielding is folded back under the connector and not shorted to the core.

You can buy new connectors to reterminate it if seems a bit mangled.

You need to eliminate some things...

Does it work with the old box plugged back in?
