Any experts in?
I have bought a used 2016 imac from cex and having trouble setting up
I turned on the wireless keyboard - light flashing, ready to pair
Turned on the mouse - green light on.
Turn on the imac and which gets to the set up screen
Cant go any further as neither keyboard or mouse are connecting
What am I doing wrong?
Are the keyboard and mouse the versions with the lightening connector to charge them?
If so you can use a lightening to usb cable to wire the keyboard to the Mac and use it. It been a while but I think it also registers the keyboard for use wirelessly too. I think it should be the same for the mouse? I’ve only used the trackpad so not survey about the mouse.

Try this?

Easiest way is probably to just plug in a wired mouse and keyboard and the do the Bluetooth setup.
The computer should automatically try and connect Bluetooth devices when it detects it doesn't have a mouse and keyboard, so if they are in pairing mode it should find them. Different mouse and keyboard models have different ways of doing a reset, so it's worth looking those up for your versions.
If all you have is a Windows USB keyboard remember cmd (Apple) is the Windows key, Alt is the (Apple)option key. You can also add a PC keyboard mapping via the keyboards control panel (inputs pane) to avoid having to remember shift 2 is @ and Alt 3 is #.
It also allows you to use the very good £8 Kensington Keyboards with your Mac (preferable to the Apple ones for ergonomics).
All sorted thanks.
Managed to connect a usb keyboard and mouse and now set up.
Thanks again
Cheeky thread hijack for the iMac experts if I may.
Computer numpty seeks help...
I have been using a 2007 iMac for Zwift and its been great, however following a Zwift update it has now become unusable. Fine for a solo ride on a quiet course but for a large group ride its slow, avatars are missing and bikes flashing. Its like Zwift upped the min spec and it can no longer cope on busy days. Is it possible to upgrade it in any way ?
We not so long ago pensioned off a 2007 IMac. If it’s the same model you can easily add RAM (little hatch underneath gives access ) and if you’re prepared to take it apart (not difficult) you can replace the disc with an SSD. You’re stuck with the processor and graphics though.
Edit: oh, and it will be doing 2007 standards of WiFi, which may be your problem, in which case an Ethernet cable may help.

Be wary one of the 10 year-old work machines died on the table while undergoing an SSD transplant. It would fire up but no display output, there was some electrical safety dodgy starting to confirm that the connections were made (originally I thought the display cable was not connected properly, hence the dodgy start-up with the machine in pieces and the guts accessible).
I got one of the many approved apple service centres to put an SSD in my old iMac (I think it was 2007 vintage).
Looked on ifixit and didn’t fancy it for the extra £100 to fit.
