My customer is complaining her newly fitted rails aren't working.
The tracks are swish sologlyde.
Normally a fiter would put them up, however on this occasion it looks like they've done it themselves.
I can't understand why the new runners don't gliding
Any advice please?

Of course in the morning I'll be in touch with the supplier.

Not a curtain fitter but when we moved into our house one of the bedroom curtains was really hard to draw, turned out the previous owner had fitted that track upside down.
The sologlyde profile looks like it should be impossible to put upside down without it being screamingly obvious but you never know.

This ^ (although I'm sure you want to help).

In my experience that sologlide system is full of friction and is basically a bit crap. Is the track new or have they used an old one that's dirty/worn?

Don't take them down, or they WILL become YOUR problem.

If you are trying to help a customer then this:

Silicone lube spray

And if there any curtain fitters here...  what drill / screw for putting up blinds where there's a catnic lintel...

I drill carefully through the plaster with a masonry drillbit (approx 8mm), clear out the hole then use a small HS drillbit (around 4mm) then screw into that. Any old screw will self-tap into it - just make sure it is a tight fit.

My guess is they've bent the track when they've installed it (to a not flat wall for instance), the curtain heading is interfering with the gliders, they've four direct to plasterboard ambrosia the fixings are crap so the brackets and track aren't stationary.

How big is the blind? Is end fixing not a suitable option?

I always find (at least in our house) that the wall to the sides are make up of a particularly crumbly cheese.

In that case buy curtains with a cracking cheese grommet.

Based on near daily conversations I can say absolutely this is the fault of the curtain rail.

There will be four of them, across our bifolds so has to go into the lintel.

Ah fair do. I assume they're outward opening but I'll make the obvious (unless you're an architect) point if they're inward opening, make sure there's clearance above the doors.

Top tip, put some brush strip or rubber strip on the back of the closing profile to reduce the racket they make bashing the doors when (which they will do, often, on a 600 x 2200 odd blind).

Or if you've not got them yet see if you can get a gasket mounting system like "perfect fit" or "intu" to suit - I think you may struggle on full length doors mind if you don't want plisse.

Yes I supplied the rails.
However having thought about it they are probably badly fitted, then the curtains badly dressed (at the heading).

jimdubleyou - Have you thought of top fixing the blinds (into the ceiling) by battens?

Furniture polish on a cloth, wipe the rails, instructions probably say this.
