Fair sized brownfield plot at end of street, Think it may have been a primary school years ago.
Got me thinking about about potential Community based gardening,
Has anyone been involved with this sort of thing? set it up? What it entails?

Now more than ever seems like a time when communities would benefit from such projects?

You could get in touch with the people from Incredible Edible. There's a few schemes in other places now as well.

My sister and her pals did this. It's bliddy hard work. You'll get a core of enthuisiasts. the rest will come and go and turn up for the barbecues but might not be so keen on weeding. Design it so it doesnt need much weeding.

They kept it informal and discovered that the more professional outfits and assistance soaked up up the cash in advisors wages who just told them what they already knew. They found more funding themselves.

Its still ticking along even though most of the initial team have moved onwards and upwards with children.

On the slightly paranoid front, it might be worth getting some soil tests done too.

I'm a bit involved with a local community orchard. It might be an alternative to a garden.
