Looking at buying a newish house and have a question about damp proof courses/membranes.
The membrane is a couple of bricks up from ground level and you can see the black edge of it, but in places you can't see the membrane as the mortar has been pointed over it.
Is this a problem - does the mortar 'bridge' the damp proof course?
The DPC should actually be pointed over and shouldn't be visible. It often is though and won't cause a problem either way.
No, it shouldn't be pointed over as this will cause bridging. Being a newish house it is very likely to have cavity walls however, so should not be a major problem.
That's you told... 🙂
^ Hahaha.
Brickys sometimes don't run the damp quite strait so when yoyo'ing up the muck just covers it over a wee bit.Don't worry it will be there.
Buildy speak... 😉
