Really baffled by the anger and animosity b that seems to be pouring out of some people re. Mask wearing.
Can anyone explain why?
Yesterday on the back of the announcement about Omicron I advertised that masks please of visiting my workshop, lots of negativity including an "I hope you go bust" comment 🤣🤣🤣
What's the craic
Oh god these people are vile
Lots of pig ignorant idiots with an unwarranted sense of entitlement coupled with Covid fatigue from 18 months of non-sensical instructions and guidance from a pig ignorant and entitled government, but mainly the former.
Selfish, entitled people placing their own interests above the rights and interests of everyone else.
Possibly.
They are vain - my appearance improves with a mask and i have a warm nose. Win win for me
It's the most piss easy thing to do and it's literally saving lives, and people can't bring themselves to make the effort. No patience for these people at all.
I'm afraid I see it as a sign of some sort of mental illness. Anxiety, anger problems, whatever.
As someone in Scotland that has 'had' to shop, travel and teach in one throughout you know how much it bothers me - zero. Sure, it's harder projecting your voice across a class of rowdy teenagers (who also have to wear one here) but it's no biggy.
I do wonder how many of the anti mask appreciate you don't wear one for your own risk mitigation but for others. The 'I can decide what is or isn't a reasonable risk for me' mob are just indicating a lack of understanding - intentional or otherwise.
I can’t believe anyone doesn’t have some idea of why folk hate being told or forced to wear a mask.
It may be a bad choice but I’m not believing anyone doesn’t understand it.
There a a difference between not knowing why they don’t and thinking folk are idiots for not wearing them.
Absolutely baffling, got sucked into reading lists of shit last night (that or strictly) that ex footballer Kevin Gage of sufc gave was pedaling about X number of players having heart attacks/heart issues after the covid vaccine. Omg the number of comments backing this was ridiculous, 90% littered with "facts" 🤷🏻♂️
@brads as someone who wears one in public all the time, no I am don't know why others don't
I despair. I've been wearing one the whole time in supermarkets/shops/crowded places the whole time & even have to wear one all the time at work, while driving a minibus with 13 SEN kids & wearing steamed up glasses (me, not the kids).
These 'anti maskers' can't seem to comprehend that Covid ain't going away & that masks help to reduce the spread. I think that's mainly due to lack of common sense/brain cells.
I have no idea either. Here very few folk don't wear them. Oddly enough two groups who seem not to are young men from building sites so I assume thats pure machismo and a few old folk -that I have no idea
But why people would be so vehemently against them - weird.
Sticking it to the man....
Brexit...
Anti vax...
Anti mask...
If you want to get deeper its about poorly educated people who on the whole have little or no control over their lives. They take this opportunity empowered by their Brexit vote to demonstrate that they have some say in things.. even if it requires them to abandon social responsibilty and potentially puts their family and friends at risk. They have no capacity to establish which hill they should die on.
Its sad.
Yep no idea here too.
I get the feeling it is about control, which is ironic as apart from the vaccine this is a clear positive action that they control that could help
For such a tiny inconvenience it is a very strange reaction, I can only assume it's either a belief it's all part of some wider conspiracy type thing, or they're just desperate for some sort of pre pandemic normal. A tiny number may have genuine reasons but it's never them gobbling off about how awful it is.
a few old folk
I just assume that more old folk are likely to suffer from breathing issues and that a mask might (fell like it) exacerbates that. Having said that, maybe we have a very healthy population of old folk in Aviemore because they're all wearing masks when appropriate/mandated.
Have you not seen the amount of people that voted for Johnson and Brexit, we live on an island that has a high percentage of f"(£1ng idiots
Good ol thick as pigsh1t is my observation.
Generally, like most of the rest of the sane world, wearing a mask seems like a very sensible thing to do at the moment. But this...
even have to wear one all the time at work, while driving a minibus with 13 SEN kids & wearing steamed up glasses (me, not the kids).
...seems like a very good time NOT to wear one!
I get wearing a mask. I get not wearing a mask. I cannot understand wearing a mask over your mouth but not your nose.

Our county council had a FB post yesterday with a link to sites for kids to get their jabs - jeez, the crap on there! Was particularly impressed by the number of likes to a comment that linked schools fundraising for defibrillators to a supposed epidemic of kids having heart attacks after the vaccine.
So much attention seeking stupid with so much access to a social media mouthpiece
@stumpyjon - our entitled goverenment can't be pig ignorant, our illustrious leader has been to peppa pig World after all (someone had to say it)
But yeah, dont understand the non wearing of masks
I can't understand it especially when I an wearing my T&T uniform. I offer to take my mask off and cough on them. Seems its not what they want.
I’d rather not wear one, but limit my displeasure at their mandated return to a sigh and a shrug of the shoulders. Anything more is crazy.
The Venn diagram that has Brexit, Immigration, pheasant shooting, white and middle aged round the outside has anti mask festering in the middle.
We all know who they are.
But why the anger and vitriole
Yesterday on the back of the announcement about Omicron I advertised that masks please of visiting my workshop, lots of negativity including an “I hope you go bust” comment 🤣🤣🤣
I get the whole not shopping somewhere as you disagree with them about something or had a bad experience, but posting that sort of crap just suggests they have some sort of mild mental disorder - which seems very common these days. Pent up rage against the world that randomly explodes at the slightest inconsequential slight eg riding a bicycle on a road seems to trigger it in a lot of drivers.
But why the anger and vitriole
I would love to know why. My guess is a lot of people feel powerless / put down upon and have this coiled spring of animosity against the universe.
Wearing a mask, in shops, has to be one of the mildest inconveniences imaginable.
I wear a mask because I am convinced of the benefits to me and others. I do not walk around in a state of constant bemusement because not everyone thinks exactly the same as me.
I've never stopped wearing one. Sometimes I've been the only one in a supermarket with one on. However, tesco staff had theirs on today.
I still don't really understand why we stopped using them in the first place.
The only thing I don't like is all the disposable plastic waste. I've a few masks that get washed and re used.
@bikerevivesheffield Internet warriors are like little dogs that bark at everything but when a bigger dog comes near they back down and stop barking. The people that type those responses rarely back it up in real life. Hopefully you can ban them but I doubt they even ride a bike!
I can’t believe anyone doesn’t have some idea of why folk hate being told or forced to wear a mask.
@brads, the only reasons I can think of is that they are very, very stupid, or just utterly selfish ****s. If you think there are any other explanations, I'd be really interested to hear them.
I still don’t really understand why we stopped using them in the first place.
Pressure for the far right libertarians in the tory party - thats the only reason and why we continued them in Scotland as we do not have far right nutjobs anywhere near the levers of power
some of its a bit daft. Wear one as you go into the pub and / or up to tha bar but remove it when you sit down - not hugely logical
So much attention seeking stupid with so much access to a social media mouthpiece
Which is why I have very little contact with most social media.
even have to wear one all the time at work, while driving a minibus with 13 SEN kids & wearing steamed up glasses (me, not the kids).
…seems like a very good time NOT to wear one!
What, you think I ACTUALLY leave the depot in a bus with steamed up glegs?
Yeah, I'm bound to.
Given up reading the FB comments section of anything regarding covid/masks ect as its just a cesspit that does no good to your own mental wellbeing.
TBH I dont like wearing them but its no biggie when I'm popping to the shops, especially if it prevents another chuffin lockdown (fingers crossed...)
It's the flu innit, you just need to get over it.
And the flu is just like a cold.
I've had lots of colds me and I'm still standing.
So I'm not wearing a mask because you tell me to.
And it gets in the way of me Carling.
It's just proper batshit crazy - I get not wanting to wear one, but "resist" and "overthrow the tyranny"? It's a strip of *ing cloth, you *ing wet-ends, no-one's tattooing a ****ing serial number on your forearm .
It's Trumpism in UK form isn't it, basically.
'My right to do exactly as I please at all times is paramount, and I don't think it's acceptable that I should ever face any kind of consequences or criticism for that'.
As someone who suffers from occasionally crippling anxiety, wearing a mask does make it worse sometimes. Go into a shop where you're wearing one, counter staff are wearing one, and there's a perspex screen between you, it can be genuinely hard to communicate sometimes.
If I'm not feeling very resilient it can be genuinely stressful/taxing. The mask can make panicky-type breathing more acute also.
I still wear one 95% of the time I'm in a crowded place indoors though, because I'm not a dick.
Humans and Rules = Arseholes !!
I cannot understand wearing a mask over your mouth but not your nose.
I can’t decide if these bastards are worse than the ones that don’t wear masks at all. Is it some form of piss take?
.
Can anyone explain why?
Perhaps they assume they are immune?
Yesterday on the back of the announcement about Omicron I advertised that masks please of visiting my workshop, lots of negativity including an “I hope you go bust” comment 🤣🤣🤣
Some people are not nice.
I wear mask at work or to shop all the time. For me I just wear one regardless and if they step too close to me I simply move back to maintain the distance. I don't need people speaking to my face one feet away. Oddly at work there are some colleagues who simply don't wear one and go about their life as normal. Not sure their reasons but I ain't asking and if they wish to speak to they just have to speak to me at a distance I am comfortable while I wear my mask.
Told you we need covid lick blocks in all town centres...
Lets see how many anti vaxx/mask folks fancy a lick
Hardly anyone in Tesco today was wearing one, even the door security wasn't wearing one either. But on Friday most people in Waitrose were.
But why the anger and vitriole
Because they have no argument. Therefore they can only rant.
I'll see tomorrow what % of my customers do....
Thing is, it's been gov advice to wear a mask and follow 'common sense' in places like shops for ages, it's just not been mandatory - but there's been a huge drop off of people actually doing it. In my shop around 80% of people just don't bother.
Ive been having one on 10hrs a day since they were introduced last year. Anyone that kicks up a fuss I'll had my local MPs email address and say please write down any grievances to her...
