Just a thought - if one of the main reasons for needing a different car is the lifting out, have you looked at the Maxi Cosi Axxis seats? No good for newborns, but can be used 1yr+. It spins around in 90degrees so the seat is facing the open door - it just means the lifting in and out is easier.

KIddicare have them on offer at the moment - buy 3> and they are only £140 each (RRP £210, price for just one at Kiddicare £165 IIRC).

Thanks for all the advise. Yesterday we bought a Seat Alter XL with 4k on the clock and saved £5k on a new price. I hate to say it but I actually quite like how it looks and drives and certainly it is a child friendly car.
