Just had our home insurance renewal quote through and it has more than doubled despite no claims, so that can get in the sea!

Anyone got any recommendations for insurers/brokers that will cover a property with an annexe.  The annexe has its own bathroom and kitchen, and a separate entrance from the main building (although the side wall adjoins our utility).  As such, it has its own council tax but shared utilities.  This combination seems so be a real problem for many insurers.

Is it insured as a single property or as two separate properties? Maybe that's an avenue to explore, but beyond that no helpful experience

On a related (but not to insurance) note, the rules on stamp duty changed last year when Multiple Dwelling Relief was abolished.

To date it has been insured as a single property.  I presume separate insurance would be an option, although I've a feeling we looked into that at some point in the past and it wasn't cost effective.  Still, worth investigating - cheers.
