Looks like another operation in January and six months on sticks.
Happy days...
Wow that looks horrendous, how did you manage that?
I broke my leg and ankle last June (16) and now have two broken Ti screws clicking about, so how you manage with that lot I just don't know.
What are they planning to do?
how did you manage that?
Shark attack saving small children...
...while holding a puppy...
...for charity*
What are they planning to do?
Realign the heel and then bolt the bits below the blue line to the bit above with the bolts already there. They are hoping there is enough movement remaining in the very front joint (not coloured in) to allow reasonable walking and cycling.
*It might however have been a ladder accident
didnt you once consider cutting the damn thing off and getting a carbon fibre replacement?
maybe time to think about it again
You never cease to amaze me... 😯
Blimey, not great that. At least you don't need feets to do artwork out of metals an that.
Goood luck with the op(s)!
Wtf. Just when your getting out again! Is this to try and improve it or further damage?
Is this to try and improve it or further damage?
A bit of both. The crushed bone is painful and means my foot twists sideways causing knee and hip damage. Bolt it back on straight and the pain should go and I wont damage the knees and hips and hopefully will walk better.
Chris almighty that must hurt ... 😯
It does if I walk much. This was what it looked like after day 2 of the BBB last year and I had to walk around for 2 more days after that*

*If you were there you might have noticed I did a lot less walking on Sunday and Monday
Crikey is that swelling after the walk? 😯
Yes. And it had been quite tightly strapped to stop the swelling.
This is what it is normally like

I have really bad arthritis in my left ankle 15%movement(was offered fusion but hope for replacement joint in a couple of years)I can’t walk very far but mountain biking isn’t much of a problem
Mine was fused in 2009 and the result was life changing as I had been in constant pain when weight bearing. Have had to give up rock climbing but biking is great though there are things that are trickier like bunny hops, jumps and slow speed balancey stuff.
The OP's ankle looked a total monster before the opp!
Biking is easier than walking as the pedal stays level - or what ever angle the ankle wants.
The first fusion was equally life changing for me at the time, unfortunately the second part of the ankle subsequently collapsed so heading for the second fusion to bolt next bit together.
Apparently the future for the front joint on the foot doesn't look great as that has also almost closed up so this thread may resurface again in another couple of years...
Best wishes, I look forward to having a beer together one day
Is this all done at Southampton ?
Nick, sorry to hear your bad luck with the fusion mate. last time we spoke i thought it was going fine.
miner has been fine. getting stronger on it all the time. it is at present supporting my post op left hand side. and doing so admirably.
Had front foot fusion a good few yrs ago, big toe, neuromas etc. It settled not bad really, niggles, but quite bearable.
Be warned, the other thread has gory pictures : http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ankle-update-with-gory-pictures/
i will keep this one less gory. Suffice to say i have had the operation and apart from one bloody incident we seem to be okay
