Countzero....here's the thing....patients get incredibly worried and so let's say they have an increased risk developing breast cancer...let's say someone at the age of 50 had a 60 percent risk of developing breast cancer over the rest of their lifetime. Where is the point in terms of risk where it becomes a viable option?
Now reports I've read show that preventive mastectomy reduces breast cancer rates in those individuals with BRCA1 to about 10 percent. How effective is that in terms of survival versus other treatment plans like increased screening?
These are all questions I'd like to find answers for....
What I'm trying to say is that I'm not entirely sure mass media exposure is a good thing....given the complexities of treatment options/prognosis.
Good call zokes he is certainly not new but no sure who

Well, when Bwaarp failed to heed Mark's warning a few weeks back he seemed to vanish. Now the badger molester arrives a week ago. Two week stint in the bin?
Certainly saying some daft stuff
Which would tie in.
I think zokes has it JY.
Seriously, some people.
I have a colleague at work who has recently just come back from her second 'dose' of BC. She has had the gene test and has come back positive on them, so pardon me if I'm taking a hardline approach on this. She has two young kids who need their mother (hell which young kids don't) so she is going to have this (and the rest) done too. To recover twice must be unbelieveably hard, I'm not sure how the third would go.
It can't be an easy decision to make. So depsite having no real respect for Ms Jolie prior I have much for her today. To stand up publically about this takes guts and whether you like it or it will have a positive impact overall.
So please, stop all the schoolboy s****ing and growTFU.
have changed my view of Angelina Jolie - courageous lady.
She's not just a stunningly beautiful bimbo though - she's done lots of work with the UNHCR.
Brave woman and I wish her a speedy recovery.
The defective gene runs in mrscarlos family , luckily she hasn't inherited it. When they found a lump 5 years ago we took the decision as a family with young children that if she had the gene then her boobs would be coming off. Selfish as it seems I have never been so scared of loosing someone as I was while we were waiting for the biopsy results (which was a fairly invasive op itself) my wife means everything to me and I really would be lost witout her.
I can totally understand why Angelina Jolie has had this op and think she's very brave.
