got an HTC M8, had it a couple of years or so, happy enough with its performance but im finding its always warning me now that im low on space. i look at my storage and the 16Gb internal memory is nearly full, my 32Gb card has plenty of space on it. so....... i swapped as many apps over to sd as i could. problem is, every time it updates an app it sticks it back on internal memory. so i disabled updates but the consequence of that is none of my apps are ever updated. i can probably live with that but should it be so? my main problem tho is my photos. i swapped all my photos/videos over to sd card, but now when i open the gallery, or google photos, theyre not there, only a load of sh1tty whatsapp pics that i get sent, no actual photos. so obviously moving them means that the gallery or google photos cant access them now. if i go to a file explorer i can work out that theyve gone to afolder on the card called htc space saver or summats, but thats a faff to find, its not easily available to me. i think on the whole im a pretty light user of a phone, plenty of people must have hundreds of apps, videos, films etc on their phones, i have relatively few. so how does everyone else bypass this problem? is there an easy workaround to leave plenty of internal space, have most things on my sd card, and be able to access it all easily? thanks a lot

Erm....dunno.

I saw this yesterday, but because my SD card is set to 'portable device' rather than 'internal storage' I wasn't really able to have a dig around on my phone and see what's different.

Do you have a breakdown of what is using that memory?
Mine for example says:

Device Storage - 16.3Gb Total used of 32Gb
OS occupied Space 8.13 Gb
Internal Storage 8.17Gb of 23.87Gb

If I interrogate that further (click on internal storage), then 5Gb are Apps.

SD card is on 2.3Gb of 29.05 Gb

If you go into your apps - can you check whether they are being stored on the SD card, or whether they are going on the phone memory?

As an aside - I have just notice that Spotify is taking up almost 2Gb, but I didn't think I had any downloaded music - need to investigate that....I must have downloaded a playlist without realising.

yep, internal has system at 7.89Gb, apps 5.34Gb etc
SD has apps 2.05Gb

i know this from before, some apps can be moved to SD, some cant, but even if you move them, when theyre updated they go back to internal.

thats why i thought 'format card as internal' as advised above ^^^ would have seen both the internal [i]and[/i] SD as 40-odd GB of internal memory.

may be time for a new phone but its frustrating having so much spare space on the card and not being able to use it. or rather the fact that 16Gb of internal gets full so easily and ****s things up for me.
