As above - My OSD is on its way out (a bit of the bezel fell off today!), it seems most android phones are powerful enough for me, I'd like a decent camera and ideally battery life.
The Motorola is getting the hype, how's it's camera & battery?
What do you call decent? My Moto G has been running for 1 day & 22 hours on it's last charge with 27% left - I use it quite a bit for FB/email/browsing on Wifi, ironically not so much for actually calling people 🙂
Camera seems ok, can be a bit slow to focus/take on occasion, but the output seems decent enought to me
I dunno! mine is fairly poor, I don't need to surf much on it for it to need charged at the end of the day or before. I guess enough for it to get a few hours surfing.
My xperia Z lasts aaaaaages.
Sony Xperia Z1 has a massive battery - 3000mAh, iPhone batteries are about half that.
LG G2 also has 3000mAh battery, mine lasts approx 2-3 days depending on usage.
Get whatever you like. Then get an anker battery. Im using one on my s3. 7200mAh battery for 25 quids. Makes the phones profile quite large., but 4 days use and 3days with heavy usage. Cannot recommend enough
I've got a Xperia Z1 - I can confirm the battery lasts for ages!
I used it last weekend for an overnight bothy trip to record gps track and navigation via viewranger OS maps. It was full when I started and still over 50% at the end. The 5" screen is great for maps and it's waterproof to boot.
My Decathlon Quechua phone is currently doing me about 6 days between charges
I recently changed to a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - as well as being waterproof and working with wet gloves, the battery life has been excellent. Getting 2 days connected to Wi-Fi/3G all the time, using it plenty too - beats my old HTC One hands down.
And it comes in a lovely lime green 8)
Been impressed with battery life on my 4G active compared to the old HTC Sensation, lasts three days or so with BT, wifi, gps switched on. HTC lasted under a day. And the S4 is (under)waterproof.
Galaxy note (2 is a year old, 3 came out before august/september time).
Massive phones but equally massive battery.
Lasts a day with very heavy usage (i.e. saturday sat on sofa kind of event).
I had a HTC Hero the life was ok but only lasted a day then I had a HTC Sensation which had poor battery life and lasted under a day. I now have S4 4g and it lasts quite well but is a bit delicate.
I got two spare Anker batteries and a charger for my old Sensation. That's over a week's battery life.
Whats the charging port cover / hatch like on the Z1? Is it a PITA or ok?
After nearly being scared off by it I'm mightily impressed by the battery life on my Nexus 5, I'm quite a heavy user and can get two to three days off a charge, although I did notice a very big difference switching from Dalvik to ART.
The battery hatch thing on the Z1 is ok.
OK so on cheaper phones (say up to £200) which includes the Decathlon, Moto G or X, (Nexus?)
Anything with good battery and camera (given everything else works the same - for me).
I'm lucky to get 12 hours on my S4 based on medium calling and maybe an hour's surfing.
My iphone 4 would last a couple of days on the same useage.
I personally would not want to have to charge, carry and atatch another battery lump thing to your phone.
my S4 gets uplugged at 7am every morning. during the day i make a few calls and might play on it during lunch. when i get home i'll spend some time surfing the web and doing all my social media stuff. in between that i'll send quite a few messages on whatsapp and my son will want to play subway surfer of csr racing. my daughter will then want to watch a few music videos on youtube. by the time the kids are in bed around 9pm i usually have at least 30% left on the battery.
i'm happy with that
Recently got a Moto G and am very happy with it. I just charged it today when it got down to less than 20% charge after 3 days and 12 hours (very light use though).
Seems much better than past phones that I have had - e.g. SGS2 and Galaxy Nexus
Avoid (my) HTC one x.
I use the moto g all day long, fairly heavy usage. Tends to last about 10 or 11 hours before needing a charge. If I was to use it constant probably be about 7 or 8 hours you'd get from the battery.
Galaxy Note 2 here. Good battery life and one of the available cases has an even bigger battery built in. Just don't run your screen as bright as a thousand sun's and it's fine.
my nexus 5 is streets ahead of my old HTC desire HD.
Offpiste, how are you finding the LGG2?I,ve been thinking about getting one myself. If I can find a good deal.
loving my Z1, lasts atleast 2 days of use.
if you cant be bothered opening the charging port get a cheap magnetic dock from ebay which connects with the small exposed contacts
never thought how useful a waterproof phone would be!
I just bought a Moto G as a second phone for travel. I can't stand android but wasn't prepared to shell out over £500 for a second iPhone that will only get used for email and browsing when I'm out of the country. If you're happy with android I can't recommend the Moto G highly enough - I prefer it to both the Galaxy S4 and HTC One I had previously tried, it only cost £130, and the battery life is at least as good as my iPhone 5s. The camera is nothing special, but it's fine.
Sorry for the delayed response monkeycmonkeydo, I've been away for a bit. I'm generally very pleased with it, much better than the old HTC Sensation. I've been with T Mobile, now EE for several years and the deal was quite good, got a 4G sharer package with Mrs OP.
Galaxy s4 battery life is good. But more crucially it charges really fast like an iphone which is really handy.
I just got a larger battery (and matching larger rear cover) for my S3 mini. It now easily lasts a day no matter how much I use it. It does now feel more retro being approx 1.5cm thick now 🙂
Don't get a HTC one s. Amazing camera, brilliant music quality but battery last 12 hours max. Few texts, half hour on web at work and battery is gone by time I get home.
