The Tates seem to be wholly loathsome. I hope that justice is served and if they're found guilty they are duly punished.

When a friend questioned a couple of pupils in school about why they considered Tate to be a role model it escalated into his family having to move into a safe house and have police protection due to the threats that he received from Tate's followers.

Having seen Tate's influence first hand I am hopeful that the Romanian authorities do a very thorough job indeed.

As a dad of 3 young boys and a daughter

I’m very worried about the kind of influence these influencer shitehawks have

I agree, but the only way that's solved is for the political will to regulate the internet to be found

Not easy

https://news.sky.com/story/andrew-tate-romanian-court-rules-trial-of-influencer-accused-of-human-trafficking-can-go-ahead-13123383

"In March, a Romanian court approved a request from Britain to extradite the Tate brothers on allegations of sexual aggression dating back to 2012-15, but only after the completion of Romanian trial proceedings."

I did not know this. They've got themselves in quite a pickle.

Yeah, I saw that a while back but wasn't entirely sure of the implications. I mean to say, did it imply they will do time over here if found guilty, instead of in Romania? I've no idea.

Presumably they are two separate cases - one for alledged crimes in Romania and another one for alledged crimes in the UK.

If found guilty in both countries I would expect them to be punished in both countries.

At least they might have something to look forward to when languishing in a Romanian prison - a possible upgrade care of HMP

Tate has pretty much come out as gay, allegedly, by saying having sex with a woman for any reason other than for producing children is gay.

If this is actually true, then there’s only one conclusion to be drawn.

To be fair, that is kinda the logical conclusion if you extrapolate a misogynist world view to its logical end point.

At least it'll help him enjoy prison a bit more I suppose.

(all IMO so feel free to correct me on any of this!) For me, schools etc seem to be fighting the battle against Tate types using the wrong method.

Instead of just stating that Tate is wrong (which he is) about his treatment of women etc, which I'm assuming gets overshadowed by teenage boys seeing his mansions, fast cars and model "girlfriends", there should be more emphasis on the courses/memberships he sells, all of which promise "Get Rich quick" using the same old outdated methods.

I think Coffeezilla did a piece on him which showed that the only way you make money from his courses is by promoting the courses themselves and earning commission. (hence all the spam on social media).

If young people can be educated that the only way Tate is really making money is at the expense of his followers, that his courses are all scams (pay high profile Youtubers to honestly review them) and that the controversial statements he makes are just to gain attention and scam more followers then this will surely have a greater effect than a "Don't be like him, ignore his houses/cars, he's not nice" approach?

Dont think it technically is since it just has a single layer of paying commissions rather than each subordinate continually getting a cut of their subordinates and their subordinates payments.

Its the classic get rich quick course which has one lesson "publish an ad for your course and send this to anyone who responds".

Sex for procreation only is a key plot driver of Margaret Atwood's the Handmaid's Tale. It's also a view of parts of the pro-life agenda.

So whilst it is stupid, Tate is far from the only one to manage to reconcile (or miss) the contradiction, unfortunately.

So the right response to toxic masculinity and sexual predation is...rape jokes? Okay...

The stupid genomic proclamations about being a hungry tiger etc are a sales technique. It attracts attention. 1% of those attracted will click through to his self-help packages. That's still 100 times more people that would click through if he were saying "buy my self-help package". Whether he is clever enough to know how stupid the things he says are is a mystery.

Yeah someone said it before me but I always think it's a bit chilling that any conversation about incarceration goes hand in hand with jokes about violent, man-on-man rape.

And I'm not even an STW pearl clutcher.

Not directly related to Tate but the BBC have an excellent programme called "How to save an incel". Really interesting and compassionate, it looks at the self loathing of some young men, how that leads them to incel forums and how some have managed to make it out through there own self help groups.

Jokes about “man-on-man rape” are different from situational sexuality that often occurs in incarcerated populations.

It is interesting and somewhat ironic that sex for procreation rather than enjoyment is highly improbable for incarcerated males in a male prisons.

Interesting, that is unlikely to impress his huge Muslim fan base, I would have thought.

And I can't imagine Tate saying anything in public without considering the personal financial consequences of his comments.

I’d almost forgotten that he existed. Has his ability to post and create content been reduced massively in light of his current circumstances? If he’s guilty I hope they throw the book at him. He comes across like an absolute arse and despicable human being from what I’ve seen of him.

Just seen him referred to as Eunuch Powell in relation to a swimwear picture.

Apparently the right wing headbangers now think he's trans.

It's all toxic and horrid but...  as said before, sod him. This is squarely into 'leopards eating faces' territory.

I often wonder what the families of any perpetrators think following despicable offences. Bringing your child up then seeing them become a monster as an adult.

Do you think his mum sits of an evening and wonders how she managed to raise some misogynistic ****nuggets?

I have made two attempts to watch that ^^ but I can't handle more than about 30 seconds. Can anyone sum up what he is announcing/saying or provide a link to an article so I don't have to listen to him? I can't find any.

The Poke is right, that's a very VERY cheap grift for the terminally thick, about on par with getting an email from a Prince about some inheritance owed to you.

But, it'll probably work enough to make it worthwhile for him.

That's where I am on it as well.  It is deliberately bad in order to be posted up everywhere as a joke but we are not the intended audience.  Was there not a thing with an american optician years ago that would abuse people in online reviews in order that people would link to the reviews and so he would get a lot of traffic and it worked enough that Google changed their algorithm to handle that case.  I wonder if the same will work here

It is deliberately bad in order to be posted up everywhere as a joke but we are not the intended audience.

That was apparently a Tory technique in the 2019 election  - having twitter ads with 'Get Brexit done' in comic sans which were shared and parodied to ridicule the poor taste but which or course in turn spread the message. So yep - mis-spelling 'Britain' possibly a deliberate ploy, but what you of course have now becuase of these kinds of deliberate ploys is the handy defence for very daft mistake you make is its all actually a clever ploy to own the libs too.

I think in a weird way Tate has done us a bit of a favour.

Musk has enough money and control over a sizeable chunk of the world's social media algorithm that he could be considered a credible thread to the direction of governance in the UK. Put that influence behind a semi credible (words used advisedly) person like Farage and we might have a problem. But for the old, white skinned, semi literate, beige wearing, conservative with a  small c, and a bit racist tossers that we fondly call the most important cohort of actual voters in British democracy, Tate will remain a step too far for the foreseeable. It might just buy the tories a bit of space to jettison the likes of Jenrick and put together a slightly saner right wing opposition.

So I'm really hope Musk backs him bigly. Like best buddy bigly. There is just a chance it'll smear the Trump administration in guilt by association.  I know I'm grasping at straws here, what with Trump being a felon and sex offender already and the 'mercian population still lapping him up, but you gotta find a bit of hope where you can find it.

I think you are giving credit to the British public it doesn't deserve. No one that is vaguely interested in Tate will notice a spelling error and the chances of any algorithm pushing a scoffing post from a Guardian type into their feed is also vanishingly small.

Problem is that he has hundreds of channels, and lots of his followers have channels, and IIRC part of the Hustlers University stuff is how to monetise these videos and label them/game the algorithms so they do get pushed in places you wouldn’t expect.

yep someone on team Tate was well switched on with this stellar marketing strategy, it was and still is  pure genius.

This must be a piss take?

No mention of membership, candidates or any understanding of the Uk electoral process.

No mention of Musk support either?

He sounds terrible, makes Ed Miliband sound like Churchill.

WTAF is trying to achieve?
