So you dont fill in the little green form anymore but have to register on line? Is this true?

Where do you go to do that then?

Yup, you need to fill in an ESTA and pay your $12 or so for the privilege. Usually approved there and then so long as your not a baddie etc. Means there's no paper work at the other end etc.

And from my experience at least, Border Control over there aren't the bunch of Nazi-ist Control Freaks they are often portrayed as.

I go through land border controls from Canada to US quite often - never had a problem there, usually lovely people to deal with and quick too

Agree on the land border people, went from Victoria to Port Angeles on my bike trip and they took the piss out of me. Very friendly and helpful.
