the only copy I could track down online of a favourite childhood book that I once owned was on ebay in Canada...

I contacted the seller and explained that I wanted the book for my own children and she sent it to me free of charge 🙂

Check his feedback. If he has a history of buying and selling that sort of stuff, tell him to jog on...

If you wait for a meaningful contribution to this thread the chances are the old boy will have kicked the bucket by then and the problem will go away! Jus' sayin.

Edit and now I am off to look at old ammo boxes on ebay... You've a lot to answer for BC!

You're not wrong to be sus.

Unfortunately with Ebay, it's so full of chancers hiding behind the anonymity of the internet, I wouldn't react to things in the same way that I would do in real life.

Might (very probably not) be true, but if it is, they've got to do a lot better than that to persuade.

9 quid? They didn't care that much about gramps before the auction.

My ammo box is in the shed waiting to be made into a wood stove for a tent. I'll get round to it one day.

I too am suffering from an overwhelming case of desk envy! I can think of other things I'd prefer to put in those holes than bits of metal; they look very 'bottle'-shaped to me...
