Thinking of getting the girls an Amazon Echo for their rooms on the black Friday deal (we get Hue bulbs, they get Echo) so that they can use Spotify for their music.
I have a family membership so they have their own account/playlists etc.
Question is can we just set up the Echo with their Spotify email so that it only works on their Echo?

Yes.

I have an Echo that's connected to my Spotify and my daughter has a Google Home connected to hers

This'll depend on the age of your girls, but if its just for streaming music i'd suggest just getting a bluetooth speaker instead and controlling it from a phone/tablet. I've got both and find myself using my phone to control what's playing 99% of the time

The only thing we had to do was set up the kids each with an amazon account - otherwise it only links to one spotify account. They may have changed things since last time I looked

Spotify has to be Premium account for it to work does it not? I’m currently reviewing our monthly media subs at the amount as they all add up to silly money. Just downgraded Spotify to free and it won’t talk to Alexa.

You dont actually even have to, you just select the Echo as the device being used in Spotify, but I would just get a better speaker if i was just using it for music as it's nowhere near as good for browsing, searching, etc on its own

Yup, this. We don't need all of Amazon, Now TV, Netflix, Virgin TV  etc etc.

However, Family Premium Spotify is worth it for us (£15 a month) - allows us to have our own playlists on our devices.

Not sure if Mrs Dubs account syncs to our Echos though.

Slight hijack, if I get my daughter an echo, can she use it to play spotify through a sonos speaker?

You can have multiple amazon profiles on a single echo, and each profile linked to a separate spotify account, if you don't want your wifes trashy music requests clogging up your spotify recommendations. Switching between profiles is manual (voice command) at the moment

Yes, you can get the Echo to bluetooth link to a speaker whichgives you voice control of Spotify.

Yes..
so in that case you'd be better off just getting the £15 amazon thing that has no speaker at all... 'input' i think?
