I have an aged Advent netbook lurking in my 'things to do in lockdown' pile. It was running windows 7 (very slowly); when support stopped I tried installing Linux Mint on it which is ok. In retrospect Mint is probably better suited to something with a bit more processing power and memory - my netbook is now quicker than on windows but still pretty slow, enough to make me not pick it up to use it as a first choice.
With other laptops available anyway I wondered if Chrome OS might be a better choice for it - something that will boot quickly enough that I actually use it for browsing of an evening rather than my phone. First attempts were quickly foiled when I found out that it's so outdated it's still 32bit which is no longer supported in Chrome OS.
So - is it worth attempting on a no longer supported 32bit OS (aug 2019 version) and if so, where to download it? Is getmyos.com secure? How would you rate the security risk of an unsupported Chrome OS (site log-ins etc)?
If Chrome isn't recommended, what other light, quick booting 32bit OS do you recommend?
