what's my best way to go about getting a bluetooth gadget added to my car which doesn't have one. I just want to make calls and play music from bluetooth devices, I don't need anything flash. Ring a local car audio place?

Thanks

Changing the stereo head unit is usually not a hard job.

Simplest solution is a Bluetooth FM transmitter -phone sees it as a Bluetooth device, your car picks it up by radio. Not sure that world work for calls though.

I bought a new head unit for my old car and that's by far the best way IMO. Couldn't be arsed for my current car and I bought  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0177T3OEU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  which does audio and calls just fine but does require an aux in and power via a usb port (I just use a 12V port adapter).

I have one of these -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Receiver-Hands-free-Reduction-Multi-Point/dp/B011I8ITJ6/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1530191369&sr=1-11&keywords=bluetooth+aux+handsfree

Works perfectly for receiving calls, playing music & OK google navigating. You do need an aux in though & and a power source.

That will only work if your car has a headphone jack style aux input into the stereo, I think....

There are cheaper ones - but the Himbox one did seem to have had the most good reviews.
