Tree - its not will the effects of getting the illness be worse than getting the vaccine - you have to have a likelihood of the events as well.

The fatality rate of swine flu is 6 in every 100,000 cases.

The fatality rate of the vacine is zero.

Therefore it would seem to be a sensible option to have the vacine if it's offered to you.

How likely are you to get swine flu then? How many folk infected out of ourt population? You have to figure that in as well.

thus my view is that if you are in an at risk category then it makes total sense to have it. If you are not the case for having the vaccination is much less clear cut.

According to the information we've been given that includes all under 5s (which is the category originally being discussed) - so you're eventually agreeing with us.

FWIW you've made some very good arguments since I last commented, TJ - it did seem necessary to force you to justify your position though, having started off just repeating this "do no harm" thing, which is meaningless unless you explain it properly (if you applied that principle on as strict a basis as you were suggesting back up there, lots more people would die from cancer - at least we might not have endless debates about whether LA is clean I suppose 😈 ).
