Disagree. As driverless cars become the norm, I reckon cars will become even more of a status symbol - effectively a home on wheels so those who spend lots of time in them or who want to show off will be pimping them up with all sorts of crap inside - home cinema on wheels?
The use of energy/natural resources will either be very different or we will have slipped into some sort of Waterworld/Mad Max apocalypse scenario.Either way we'll look back on how we behaved now as very naive.
Living on state pensions, whilst consuming state provided healthcare & expecting 'the state' to look after us 'free' in our dotage. The sums don't add up - too many of us are going to live on in a physical condition not conducive to life sustaining employment and with ever spiralling health bills for all the new wonder drugs available but not doing the decent thing and actually dying to clear a bit of space for the next generation.

Interesting. But what percentage of jobs in the future will require any physical activity whatsoever except for moving maybe one finger? Once we've tackled Alzheimer's related illness then why retire anyone? We can fixed to one screen or another screen until our working lives are cut short only by that other screen with a flat line on it?

I reckon that's going to be some way off - at least as I understand it from friends in the medical profession, while we're making huge strides in terms of keeping people alive and working to some level, things like Alzheimers continue to occur at roughly the same age/rate.

True - but by 'physical condition' I guess I also included mental condition. - a bit of dementia or just good old fashioned fatigue. Assuming they could be trained on the IT systems required how many 80 odd yr olds today would be considered valuable employees in sedentary jobs? edit to your edit - and like nemesis I see science fixing us to make us physically sustainable long before we are at the same position with mental longevity.

I'm not sure there's much more than can actualy be deemed unacceptable other than smoking/drinking and that makes too much money....nearly everything else has pretty much been sown up....
I do find it funny thou that what was unacceptable a while back ... 24 hr drinking,24 hr online gambling and mental apr payday loans is acceptable

There was a programme on TV the other night called the 12 Drinks of Christmas. It was Alexander Armstrong and Giles Coren getting gloriously pissed whilst making all sorts of potent concoctions. Really funny but I thought at the time this is going to be on one of those clip shows in 20 years time when shocked people look back on our irresponsible behaviour, just like we look back at shows like Mind Your Language now.

I'm more hopeful of seeing and end to proselytising atheists. Atheism is fine, kidding yourself that its some kind of achievement, that you're bettered by it, and that other people would be bettered by it is just embarrassing. Any simpleton can be an atheist, even me, I find it very easy indeed. Manners however - they seem to take a bit of effort.
