The times they are a changing...

So, what is acceptable now but in the future will not be?

I bet tobacco, if 'discovered' today would not be permitted. Glass also, possibly. Discuss.

Imagine if fire was just invented H&S would have a field day.

"So you want to put a hole in the wall and fill it with fire?"

How about keeping "domestic" animals in cities? I bet that'll seem pretty weird looking back.

Fireworks.

Chinese lanterns.

Not that they're particularly acceptable now, especially where thatched properties are concerned.

Ties. In much the same way that JFK killed the hat, meetings of heads of state are now conducted by people not wearing ties and I suspect this coming generation will be the first where most people will live a lifetime without having occasion to either own or wear one - not for school, not on graduation day, not for a job interview, not on their wedding day and not at a funeral.

It puts a lot of blokes in a tricky situation currently though as they don't know how to dress without one. Nick Clegg often doesn't wear a tie, but the result is that he looks like he's forgotten to put his tie on.

OK, not so much unacceptable as just old fashioned..
Waiting for each episode of a TV series to be aired on Terrestrial/Cable/Satellite TV before you can watch them
The use of Facebook, Tinder etc, in the future we will all have an LED implanted in our forehead showing other people our current status at that moment

Working tax credits (by that i mean as a way of helping businesses keep their staff costs down).
PFI or LIFT projects.
Paracetemol in its current tablet/freely available form.
FPTP and an upper house or whatever it is in the furure with hereditary peers in it.
Paper books. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
Landfill refuse on the scale we have it now (replaced by better recycling and burning of refuse for energy).
Oh and the Citizen's Band. I am sure that will be sold off too chepaly so we can watch more lolcats on our iphone mk 66's or something.

I'm betting that the right-leaning will imagine the future becoming more North Korea and/or Sharia law - and the left-leaning imagine it becoming more US of A with a Teaparty prez

Flared trousers.

The fact that in spite of being more than 50% of the population women are still in the minority in positions of power in developed countries, earn less etc, and in less developed countries are routinely abused and degraded in the name of cultural and religious practices.

I dunno, the old "it's how you use it" answer seems to work well.
