*They don't get that masks have a part, however small, in lessening/ shortening the need for lock downs. It just goes over their heads.

This gives the anti-mask, anti-lockdown movement a well connected and media savvy figurehead. This will give the movement more publicity and in the eyes of some increase its legitimacy. It may not influence an election but it will influence public opinion and hence policy.

If Boris continues to **** up Covid and Brexit, it is possible that some of his MPs will see the writing on the wall. I know the speculation is that he will walk away after Brexit, but with the public mood as it is, I wouldn't rule out a vote of no confidence in the government or at least a Tory leadership coup next year. They need 2-3 years to distance themselves from this current calamity.

A lot easier said than done, you can't beat this kind of thing with facts - we saw that in the EU ref. Facts won't matter to their supporters. They're far too invested in their mindset to be able to back down and admit they were wrong anyway.
I've already seen people questioning the covid numbers on my local facebook group page. It's fine to question things but you have to be willing to actually look into it and change your opinions if it turns out to be unfounded.
When I said "yeah okay but the excess deaths?" (with a graph showing this year compared to the average of the last 5 years) that was just ignored.
