How can you post on a site but hide your ip address? Is it simple or some kind of dark web TOR stuff?

I have no ideas TOR or how to access the Dark web.

Essentially it is to wind up someone who can track addresses.

I suspect that you didn't do the proxy thing properly then or possibly didn't use an anonymous browser

How about using a Tor live usb? https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en and click on Tails

Unless you have a fixed IP address, does it matter?

Essentially it is to wind up someone who can track addresses.

If they can "track addresses" on a website then either:

a) they have access to the back end website (ie, they're admins / moderators on that site),

b) the site is massively insecure and you don't want to be posting on it anyway,

c) you're out of your league and not going to be able to cover your tracks,

d) they're lying to you.

Pretty much what Cougar says. Assuming the people you are hiding from are not the police, create a trial account on browserstack.com and use one of their browsers to post it.

Cougar, they were given access to the back end. It's a long story some of which is very amusing.

I guess I am out of my league which is not the end of the world 😆
