...and I've asked a few.

If you have a shower head that's quite high and comes straight down onto showee (like this style):

..and the shower screen only just goes above your head, say by 3inch...

Water won't splash out will it? Or will it?

I can't imagine water really bouncing upwards, other than ickle bits that make no discernible difference?

depends how far away the screen is but i'd expect some splash, esp if the shower is powerful or quite a deluge, flinging arms and hair around like you are in a pantene advert

Those shower heads are poo...

You need one you can angle because when you sit in the bath while having a shower ( wait... I'm getting to the point...) so you can have a shave with the mirror balanced down near the taps, you don't get a cold back.

😉

My head is level with the top of the shower cubicle and the shower head is about three inches higher. I get no splash. It confused me at first because in the displays they have in the shops the shower head is usually shown as level with the top of the cubicle. Obviously that's just for show and not how it needs to be in real life.

Because there are more holes in a large shower head and further for the water to go you need a more powerful shower heater, and thicker cabling, i found out at home

Wait, what? Aside from the fact it does angle, you sit in the bath with the shower on having a shave in front of a mirror?!

Not worth selling the house over a shower, fit a water storage tank and a shower pump or bigger boiler

Project, although I jest, you would not believe how slow progress is.

I do love the place though; just want to sort this sodding bathroom out before I move in.

Water pressure is high, and boiler is pretty good apparently.

Just want to know whether water actually splashes upwards out of a shower. It's the difference between a £210 shower screen, or a 'custom' one and size of my choice, but at £340.

£210 for a shower screen!?

You can get a decent one for about £100. This is shown as £130 but that's a retail price.

If you want any help on what you should be paying for stuff plumbing & heating wise give me a shout email in profile.

Cheers NM, but the wall is made of soft cheese, no way will handle a glass shower screen (he says with two currently sat in house)

It's one of these

(oh, and thanks for that - wish you lived closer as it's a decent plumber I need...still!)

I sit down to have a shave in the shower because I need to wear glasses, so I put the mirror between the taps. I angle the shower head to keep my back warm while shaving. Honestly, you young folk!

Crack on with it, bear. Bathrooms take ages, but when it's done, it's done.

I've never shaved in the shower, and never thought about it, so it didn't cross my mind that anyone else did.

Although to be fair, I haven't been clean shaven or had a wet shave for 15 years 🙂

Eh? Shower pumps? Storage heaters? The advice given on this site is awful...

I have a round version of that shower and it's amazing, run off a small combi at normal pressure. Bathroom floor stays dry. It feels like you're under a waterfall, bootifool.

I find that the mirror mists up too much when shaving in the shower.
