Simple as the description really, looking at T6 Transporters and wondered if a 8ft surfboard will fit straight in i.e. not diagonal? Load space looks to be 2.5m so should in theory be perfect but i know in the real world that's not always the case.

Cheers

9'6" in a SWB T4 here. It lays on top of the r+r seats and the front seats.

I have a 7ft 10 NSP in an 8ft board bag. Took it out to my T5 to check and it fits with room to spare. That's straight front to back on the floor, no diagonal or over the seats. Your 8ft should fit perfectly.

My 7'8" fits in a hyundai i20 so I'd be amazed if a 8ft didn't fit in a van!

longboard in a SWB is a pain, just too long to be easy. fine if your solo, a pain with others.

8ft board is fine. loads of ways to fit it in.

I'd not advise resting surfboards on dashboard, i used to do that to get my 9'4 log in a vectra estate when going on short journeys. Slowly pootling the 5 minutes home from a very pleasant surf, a lamb ran across the road, I braked and the log just slid through the windscreen!

Basically yes. Van is more or less designed to take standard euro pallet or 8 X 4 sheet material.
I think Vivaro and Transit Custom are probably shaped round the same loads, hence near identical sizing.

Dimensions in proper units (not feet) on this link:

I think Vivaro and Transit Custom

Increasingly though the cabin is encroaching into the loadspace with newer vans as vehicles are required to have more crash protection up front but try to keep the overall length down - 5m seems to be a magic number for some reason. So seat backs / bulkheads now lean backwards into the load area and 8x4, if it fits, will only fit in flat on the floor (so you can only put a sheet in if the van is otherwise empty) where as in older models of transits etc. they would fit in on edge - so when the T6 brochure says

Load space looks to be 2.5m

Thats a measurement of the floor only, not the length of the loadspace as a whole
