MAH can GTF. At least there's no Edith bastarding Bowman to really ruin stuff though.

MAH was awful on the Gideon Coe show last week. I turned off after 20 minutes or so for 3 nights, the 4th, I didnt bother putting it on.

I don’t know how to break this to you but Mark and Lard haven’t done a radio show together for nearly 15 years…

Really? Next you'll be telling me Bears shit in the woods.

I’m really lucky. I’m happy to listen to all the presenters on six...different strokes etc.

the David Holmes slot last month was particularly ace.

So Keaveny is gone from breakfast. Who's popping the champagne, who's a tiny bit sad?

I'm not going to miss his impressions, Hill street Blues or 'we don't do birthdays'. The show format had grown tired and tedious, but he seemed loathe to put any effort into improving it. I have no idea if I'll prefer having LL in his place.

I don't/didn't mind Keaveny and Clinton Baptiste was good this morning.

Not a massive fan of Keaveney, but I REALLY don't like Chris Hawkins and since I'm generally out the house by 7.40 and at work for 8.00 that's not really ideal.

I do like Lamacq though, I think because the evening session was such a bit part of my formative musical years.

Still can't believe they're moving Rad Mac. Which massive idiot thought that was a good idea?
Really enjoyed yesterdays music without the playlist though. They should be doing that all the time.

i like GP, in fact listen to worldwide FM a lot instead of 6.
Laverne is decent and should be good. RadMac should have stayed.
I turn off as soon as Lamacq comes on, i don't really care about his bridge club! and the music he plays is stuck in the 90's. boring!

Mark and Lard still had the best show on the radio in my eyes. that was my after school listening so maybe i'm a bit biased

I do like Lamacq though

The worst programme with the most tired format on the schedule.
He's a hateful wee gobshite who manages to mention Elastica and 'Polly' Harvey on a weekly basis.

For the love of God move him out, replace him with Tom Ravenscroft.

See objectively I pretty much agree with you, just... Nostalgia, innit.

Ravers is definitely better though, one of my favourite DJs.

I'll definitely miss RadMac in the afternoons. But at least they'll be on at the weekend.

I can't believe it'll mean more of the insipid whiterings of Mary Anne Hobnob

Each to their own, I think the Hawk is great. I like Keaveney too and suspect at lot of effort goes into making a show sound quite shambolic and half arsed.

So basically something for everyone in there 😉

It's my default station and weekend mornings are awesome in their variation, mixing up Huey and Cerys

Huey and Cerys

Huey is ace! Always plays some top tunes at the weekend. I'd like to have seen Nemone given more airtime. She plays some quality music thats a bit different from the standard rock/indie bias

This. Although it's his obsession with Idles that winds up even more. We have a daily 'minutes to first idles mention' sweepstake.
The new schedule is could be tough - Lauren and RadMac were a reliably great listen throughout the day.

With the exception of HobNob, I like all the 6 music DJs. RadMac my fave followed by Gideon Coe.

Some of us don't have a choice. As a graphic designer its required by law. If we fail to reach a minimum listening target of at least 25 hours a week, we get struck off. I believe its the same for painter and decorators

I listened to keaveney this morning and I'm a big fan so will miss him. I share his musical taste which is very cure/wedding present/qotsa/roses/tribe called quest/psych and the playlist is always excellent so never heard a song I didn't like.

And I liked his show and find him funny and a good guy

I won't hear him now as can't listen 1 to 4

I wish he'd gone to 4-7 slot and replaced lamaq, I think he's become a kind of sacred cow/ institution so probably has a job for life. If they can't sack Huey after he publicly slagged off Lauren Laverne or get rid of Liz Kershaw for being shit and exhibitnimg dementia then I think job security on BBC radio is set in stone. That also explains Steve Wright

I never really enjoyed listening to him, so not disappointed. I quite like Lauren Laverne so hopefully she'll do something good with the show. I listen more in the afternoons so will likely hear him more now, and will miss RadMac 🙁

I can't stand Mary Anne Hobbs or Liz Kershaw, there's something about them that just makes me cringe a little bit.

Lamacq is getting a bit tiresome, but still listenable.

Huey & Iggy's shows I find I turn off.

Tom Robinson, Ravenscroft, Hawkins & Gid can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned.

I think it may, possibly, have something to do with one of them undergoing cancer treatment, and easing their workload in the future.

Huey and Cerys

A pair of Cretins.

Wow, quite the piece of work, aren’t you! Cerys has more talent as a musician and songwriter than you could ever hope to possess, plus, in person, she’s a really friendly and warm person.
Quite the opposite to you, it seems.
Jackass.

The schedule change was announced some time before Mark's cancer. It's possible it was part of the decision, but it seems unlikely.

The broader issue is the BBC has tied itself in knots trying to second-guess Ofcom pronouncements, one of which includes perceived gender equality, while trying not to lose its big names. In some cases it's really badly mishandling it: on Radio 2, Jeremy Vine was seen as untouchable, while Simon Mayo was perceived to be the only presenter who "would wear" (apparently their language) having a female co-presenter forced on him. With that context, Lamacq is clearly seen as untouchable on 6Music, while RadMac seemingly were seen as flexible enough to move to weekends.

Good news on Radcliffe, hopefully they'll reinstate them to week days and Mary Ann Hobs will be committed to an asylum for constantly wittering on about "aural Landscapes.."

I still think she took much acid in the 70's and the whole of her life is one long flashback.

To be honest though, i have found the iplayer radio app the best thing, you download the shows you want to listen to and play them whenever you want.

I'll miss Keaveny and Radmack but couldn't really care less about anyone else.
I don't think the reshuffle's going to do them any favours in the amount of people tuning in.

She is the only person who I regularly switch radio stations when she is on.
I think it was last Sunday, (maybe the previous week?) when she started crying while on air, as one of her assistants was leaving, no, she wasnt dying, or retiring, she was moving to another show on R6. She is pathetic.

Not sure how anyone thinks the Weekend Early Morning Gusher is ready for a show on week days... And...Anyway... I'll be listening to recorded Gid Coe instead.

I’ll not miss Keaveny at all

FIFM.

I don’t fit into the Doc Martin wearing demographic, so find 6 hard to listen to and understand. It seems like the “fit” for the presenters is Northern and Sad.

Could never get my head around the Hill St Blues theme, and found his wittering on about old Northern TV game shows weird, it’s like he wants to live in 1981..

Cerys, very hard to understand. Though her choice of music was sometimes inspired.

RadMac, yes.. when on form they were bloody brilliant. It was a sad day when the news broke, so I’m happy to hear he’s on the mend and long may he mumble on the Radio.

I only listen to 6 when travelling. R2 (Brexit radio we call it) has long since had its day. Too many vacuous self promoting mind numbing dull presenters for my liking. Thank the Lord they’ve started to bring more women onto the station in the daytime. Jeeeeze, you’d think women presenters only came out at night, or were there to fluff the egos of the men “on stage”.

I’d like to see a mix of R6 presenters on R2, wider variety of music, remove the self promotion adverts for their egos, change the news to every three hours and get some new stories aired instead of the same old bloody routine of narration of the news topics, then some fleshed out minor detail... no thanks.. we’ve already heard you prattle on about the topics.. that’s enough thanks.

My views on Ken and vacuous Vine and Slimey Steve are well known, and becoming more offensive as the days roll on...

Lauren Laverne said Stuart Maconie is to have a very special guest this afternoon. What do you reckon? Mark Radcliffe?

I hope so!
For a fat Northerner in his late 40s, my afternoons will be much poorer without the pair of them. They're much better as a double, less so on their own.

The BBC News approach is pretty ridiculous now. Every single story has to have "a person we found (who's just like you plebs, really) who's been affected by this thing".

"Today's third news story is that chicken is to be renamed as skinny turkey. Speaking from Lancashire, here's someone who will personally be affected by this renaming"

Mark's back - sounding pretty good. Not fully mended yet but it's all gone well, he says.

Should be back on RadMac early Feb.
